VHE, a company active in the Semicon, Smart Energy, and High-Tech sectors, specializes in machine control, connectivity, and motion systems. Within the Sales Production department, one of the most time-consuming and knowledge-dependent tasks is manually assigning labour codes and estimating required work time (in minutes) for each item listed in a Bill of Materials (BOM). These estimates are critical as they directly impact assembly cost calculations presented to customers.

Currently, only two experienced employees perform these estimations manually in Excel, relying on their expert knowledge. This makes the process highly error-prone, inefficient, and creates a single point of failure. Additionally, this expertise has limited documentation and not easily transferable, making the organization vulnerable if key personnel are absent. The lack of automation also delays quote preparation and limits scalability.

This project aims to help automate the classification of labour codes and the prediction of work time better using AI. A machine learning-based approach, leveraging models like XGBoost (for classification) and artificial neural networks (for regression), will be developed and integrated into a user-friendly application. The application should enable all team members, regardless of experience, to generate consistent and accurate predictions based on structured input from the BOM.

The key research question is:
- How can AI be effectively implemented within 18 weeks in VHE's Sales Production department to automate the assignment of labour codes and work time estimates, while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and knowledge retention?

This solution will help reduce human error, improve quote accuracy, ensure knowledge preservation, and significantly streamline the BOM processing workflow—bringing measurable value to VHE’s operations and customer experience

During my graduation internship at Sopra Steria, I developed a Roslyn analyzer project aimed at improving Dependency Injection validation in ASP.NET Core Web APIs. The goal was to detect configuration issues, such as unregistered or incorrectly scoped services, earlier than the standard runtime validation.
To accomplish this, the tool uses Roslyn analyzers to enable validation during unit tests and/or design-time analysis, which informs developers of issues faster. It was built to be applicable to any ASP.NET Core Web API project using Dependency Injection, with support for unit test integration, design-time analysis, and code fix functionality. The solution was tested in realistic API scenarios to ensure that it produces accuruate results. By catching DI issues earlier, the tool is able to help reduce debugging time, and assist with refactoring large-scale projects.

Blijven innoveren is essentieel om als productiebedrijf competitief te blijven op de wereldmarkt. Voor OMRON betekent dit dat automatisering en robotisering belangrijke middelen zijn om assemblagelijnen op de langetermijnkostenefficiënter te maken. Voor één van de assemblagelijnen wordt verondersteld dat een specifiek proces geautomatiseerd kan worden. Om dit met zekerheid vast te stellen, is onderzocht of automatisering mogelijk is en welke technische oplossing hiervoor het meest geschikt zou zijn. Om te verifiëren of deze opties daadwerkelijk betere prestaties leveren, is een simulatie ontwikkeld van de assemblagelijn, waarmee het proces realistisch is nagebootst. Op basis van deze simulatie is geconcludeerd of automatisering haalbaar is en of de investering verantwoord is.

Binnen de IT-omgeving van Elastic Web beschikken we over meerdere servers, waarbij versies van het besturingssysteem, programmeerbinaries (zoals PHP, Node.js, MySQL) en applicatieomgevingen (zoals Laravel, Composer, Node packages) momenteel handmatig worden beheerd. Dit gebrek aan overzicht leidt tot verouderde softwareversies en vergroot het risico op inconsistenties en veiligheidsrisico's.

Het doel van het versiebeheerproject is het ontwikkelen van een zo geautomatiseerd mogelijke oplossing voor versiebeheer, waarbij de controle over updates gewaarborgd blijft en de versies van softwarecomponenten eenvoudig beheerd kunnen worden.

Deze oplossing moet worden geïntegreerd in het bestaande Developer Portal-project, dat door de developers van Elastic Web wordt gebruikt. De portal biedt een centraal overzicht, zodat in één oogopslag de status van specifieke softwarecomponenten zichtbaar zijn.

Daarnaast is het wenselijk om de huidige ontwikkel- en productieomgevingen uit te rusten met containerisatietechnieken, zoals Docker. Dit draagt bij aan consistentie in beide omgevingen.

Dit project zal uiteindelijk bijdragen aan de veiligheid, kwaliteit en efficiëntie binnen Elastic Web:
- Veiligheid: Door regelmatige updates kunnen beveiligingsrisico’s proactief worden verminderd.
- Kwaliteit: Up-to-date software zorgt voor een stabielere en foutloze werking.
- Efficiëntie: Automatisering van versiebeheer bespaart tijd en voorkomt onnodig grote en risicovolle wijzigingen.

This graduation internship at Mentech focused on adapting NOA, a virtual care assistant, to support people with mild intellectual disabilities (LVB – Licht Verstandelijke Beperking) in care facilities. People with LVB often have difficulties with communication, making decisions, and handling stress, and they depend a lot on caregivers for daily support.

Mentech is a healthcare technology company based in Eindhoven. They aim to improve the well-being of vulnerable groups through smart technology and innovation.

The main challenge was to help people with LVB become more independent, while also reducing the workload for caregivers in a healthcare system under pressure.

My solution focused on creating a better user experience by designing clear, guided conversations and using prompt engineering to make the assistant easy to understand and emotionally safe. NOA supports users with managing stress, reflecting on emotions, and sticking to daily routines. I paid special attention to ethical aspects—like avoiding manipulation and building trust and inclusion—since it’s important when designing for people with cognitive challenges. The final concept is a personalized, mobile-friendly assistant that helps users take more control of their daily lives in a respectful and supportive way.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij ASML heb ik gewerkt aan een oplossing voor het vervangen van de bestaande dotnet WPF user-interface applicaties voor EBeam kalibratie software door een webapplicatie. Dit project richtte zich op de requirements, onderzoek, implementatie, integratie en testing van een webgebaseerde oplossing die de functionaliteiten van de oorspronkelijke applicatie behoudt, maar ook gebruikt kan worden voor het ontwikkelen van meerdere webapplicaties voor verschillende producten binnen ASML.
Deze oplossing haalt de laatste (windows ) OS afhankelijkheid voor subsystemen weg en maakt de weg vrij voor container applicaties in de toekomst.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Beech werkte ik aan een centraal koppelplatform dat verschillende ERP-systemen zoals AFAS, Exact en SAP samenbrengt. In plaats van voor elke klant opnieuw code te schrijven, heb ik een flexibele API ontworpen waarmee je via een eenvoudige configuratie nieuwe koppelingen in enkele stappen inricht. Achter de schermen beheert een document-gebaseerde ‘tenants’ database per klant een eigen omgeving met instellingen en datamappingen, zodat alle gegevens netjes gescheiden en gestandaardiseerd blijven.

Elke keer dat een koppeling een bericht verstuurt of ontvangt, zorgt onze service automatisch voor de juiste vertaling en validatie. Zo blijven bijvoorbeeld facturen en voorraadmutaties altijd in het verwachte formaat. Tegelijkertijd houdt een uitgebreid logsysteem bij welke stappen er doorlopen zijn, zodat eventuele fouten snel terug te vinden en op te lossen zijn.

Het resultaat is een onderhoudsvriendelijke oplossing waarmee Beech binnen enkele dagen een nieuwe koppeling live kan zetten. Klanten profiteren van een consistente datastroom zonder onverwachte vertragingen, en het Beech-team kan dankzij het centrale beheer alle koppelingen eenvoudig up-to-date houden. Dit platform maakt integratie van ERP-systemen toegankelijk, betrouwbaar en schaalbaar voor zowel grote als kleine organisaties.

Throughout the project, I am responsible for delivering high-fidelity prototypes alongside
comprehensive technical documentation, detailing the rationale behind each technological
decision.

These prototypes will be engineered with a focus on maintainability, extendability,
and performance,

The outcomes of this initiative will serve as a foundational reference for the company’s
decision-making process regarding the development of the production-grade Provider

The purpose of this project is to revamp and transition a static, outdated assessment platform into a modular and flexible solution that meets current and future requirements of the offensive security team within PwC's Cybersecurity, Resilience and Privacy division. Leveraging AWS combined with Terraform's infrastructure-as-code capabilities, this project aims to deliver an environment that allows for both external assessments and internal training exercises. This environment is also easily deployed and destroyed so that it does not drain more resources than necessary. The project also includes a CTF web and network challenge created with Docker and PHP. The challenge encompasses realistic vulnerabilities and multiple solution paths, aiming to evaluate candidates' problem-solving and cybersecurity skills.

Er is onderzocht in hoeverre de huidige template voldoet aan eisen rondom veiligheid, onderhoud, risico- en kwaliteitsmanagement. Vervolgens zijn ontbrekende onderdelen in kaart gebracht en vertaald naar concrete uitbreidingsvoorstellen waarvan sommige ook zijn geïmplementeerd binnen de template.

Infrastructure Designing a Security Framework for AV Systems

During my graduation internship at Kinly, I designed a security framework for audiovisual (AV) systems. Since AV security is still a relatively unexplored area within cybersecurity, this project aimed to help Kinly take proactive steps toward securing AV environments in a practical and effective way.

The project started with identifying the most relevant security risks through interviews, literature research, and internal analysis. Based on these findings, I designed the framework structure and determined which guidelines were needed.

The framework consists of several building blocks. Some of the content within these blocks was created or adapted by subject matter experts. I focused on three essential components: developing a lightweight vulnerability scanning method for AV systems so engineers can verify security before delivery, designing a structure of controls and sub-controls to audit the implementation of guidelines, and defining KPIs to measure the effectiveness and maturity of the framework over time.

The result is a usable and future-ready framework that supports secure AV implementations and helps align security practices across teams and countries within Kinly’s international organization. With this project, Kinly takes the lead in the AV market by being one of the first to integrate cybersecurity into AV in a clear and measurable way.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Prijsvrij & D-Reizen heb ik gewerkt aan een nieuw platform genaamd MijnOmgevingPlus - een uitbreiding op de bestaande MijnPrijsvrij- en MijnD-reizen omgevingen.

De huidige MijnPrijsvrij en MijnD-reizen platforms bieden slechts toegang tot één boeking via een boekingsnummer en e-mailadres. Deze opzet biedt gebruikers geen echt accountsysteem, wat de personalisatie en gebruikerservaring beperkt.

Mijn opdracht was om een aanvullend platform te ontwikkelen dat integreert met de bestaande omgevingen. Dit nieuwe platform maakt het mogelijk voor gebruikers om zich te registreren en in te loggen volgens moderne authenticatiestandaarden, meerdere boekingen te bekijken en hun persoonlijke gegevens en voorkeuren te beheren.
MijnOmgevingPlus vormt de basis voor toekomstige accountgerelateerde functionaliteiten, zoals automatische gegevensinvoer bij het boekings proces, loyaliteitsprogramma's en gepersonaliseerde aanbevelingen.

Software Beheer van straatverlichting in Eindhoven

Tijdens mijn stage bij CGI heb ik onderzocht hoe openbare straatverlichting in Eindhoven efficiënter beheerd kan worden door middel van datavisualisatie en simulatie. Hiervoor heb ik een prototype ontwikkeld van een softwareplatform dat een overzicht biedt van alle lichtmasten in de stad.

Het platform toont deze lichtmasten op een interactieve kaart en biedt gebruikers de mogelijkheid om te filteren op bijvoorbeeld locatie, type verlichting en onderhoudsstatus. Daarnaast kunnen simulaties worden uitgevoerd, zoals het vervangen van conventionele lampen door LED-verlichting, waarmee het energieverbruik en de verwachte besparingen inzichtelijk worden gemaakt.

De uitkomsten van deze simulaties worden weergegeven in rapportages, die kunnen bijdragen aan onderbouwde beslissingen rondom onderhoud en verduurzaming. Het platform maakt gebruik van bestaande open data van de gemeente Eindhoven en is opgezet als een werkend prototype met ruimte voor verdere doorontwikkeling.

My initial assignment at SnapDAQ was to build a Unified Namespace Platform, a central hub where data from industrial machines connected to SnapDAQ’s nodes can be collected and showcased. During my time at the company, I have ended up doing so much more. I have learned the ins and outs of the nodes, the software stack and the communications protocol. Building on that knowledge, I have devised a system that does not only handle data from physical nodes, but can also simulate their exact behavior in software, allowing me to have as many nodes and signals as I need in order to accurately simulate a factory floor. On top of all this, I have designed my software stack in a manner that is modular, where data is observable at every stage and where the usual latency added by node management processes can be avoided.

The solution should send back the results to Guardian360 Lighthouse Rest API. To extend future compatibility with our platform it should be platform agnostic and prepared for Kubernetes deployment.

Software Automated testing suite for the Sorama Portal

Sorama B.V. is a mid-size Dutch company situated in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. They specialize in the development of cutting-edge sound engineering solutions, used for sound measurements, analysis, visualization and control of diverse sounds, noises and sound waves coming from various sources. Their solutions combine both self-made software and hardware products to make unique kinds of projects with specific purpose for various environments. The hardware products in question are sound acoustic cameras. These are industrial sound acoustic devices constructed of many microphones. They are used to record the sound itself and to collect data about its level and its type. One of Sorama's long running products is the "Sorama Portal". It is a web-based platform used by both the clients of Sorama and the company’s employees. Its purpose is to create advanced analysis of sound data including taking detailed sound measurements, analyze real-time generated spectrograms, perform spectrum analysis, and get more in-depth insights with time-based selections. It also supports functionalities to take sound measurements with the cameras. However, the “Sorama Portal” needs an update on its testing process. Upon every release, the web-based platform gets tested manually by both developers and researchers from the company. All these setbacks have resulted in delays in releases of new versions of the product and in feature development, as the company is spending a lot of effort in emergency fixes. To resolve these issues, Sorama is in need of a new automated testing suite, used to optimize and automate the testing process of the “Sorama Portal” project. This internship assignment aims at the development of such a testing suite and its integrate to the CI/CD of the project.
