URE’s Driverless framework was originally developed in-house, drawing inspiration from the inter-process communication patterns in ROS1, especially during the URE 15+ era. Its distinctive innovation is the use of shared memory buffers to minimize data transfer latency—a technique that had a performance edge over ROS1 in high-throughput, self-driving applications. However, the system now faces significant challenges in maintainability and development efficiency. Yearly department turnover and inadequate documentation cause valuable expertise and resources to dissolve, posing steep learning curves for new team members. Moreover, the codebase is dispersed across multiple repositories, with various bridging layers that complicate both setup and usage. These factors discourage engineers from updating legacy “golden code” and hinder broader testing, and validation efforts.

Meanwhile, ROS 2 has matured considerably, now standardizing shared memory support and offering a rich ecosystem of community-driven tools. This presents an opportunity to integrate select subsystems of the existing framework and gradually migrate to a modern, dependable architecture. By unifying developer workspaces, streamlining setup scripts, and embracing open-source tools compatible with community and other race-team ecosystems, in the near future URE can alleviate many current reliability issues, preserve institutional knowledge, and accelerate innovation through shorter development cycles.

This initiative reimagines the pipeline, concentrating on real-time, throttled inputs to produce outputs for REPLAY visualization. The primary data streams include vehicle pose, sensor-derived observation cones, and motion-planning trajectories. The proposed solution delivers a non-intrusive, plug-and-play integration that preserves existing logging functionality while enabling experimentation with new or refactored framework approaches. Leveraging historical data sets, the system can be fine-tuned to achieve optimal performance without disrupting current operations. Finally, some ROS visualization tools, such as RViz or Foxglove, will be utilized to develop custom display markers for each message format, supporting live interpretation, detailed post-run analysis, and faster feedback that helps drive continuous improvement.

My project is for a company named A1. They are a telecommunications company with multiple services which they also provide in Bulgaria where my internship is currently being done. As the number of employees is growing they tend to experience more problems regarding their parking lots. Currently there isn't anything that tracks how many cars have been parked which creates the problem that people go to work and see that there isn't space available, making them take an extra detour thus being late to work and meetings. The goal of my project is to help them with this issue while creating an application that can track the number of cars parked, allow people to book spots for certain days and time, minimize the problem that people are late for work and ensure fairness between all the employees. The solution will also provide useful data about parking space usage, helping them in the future. And by tackling this problem, the application aims to reduce stress for employees and improve the overall workplace efficiency.

When and where we decide to use electricity significantly impacts greenhouse gas emissions. When we begin consuming energy, we might cause a coal-fired power plant to increase production to meet the higher demand, or we might use green energy when it is plentiful and at risk of being curtailed (decreasing generation to prevent exceeding the demand).

At Bright Cubes, I worked to develop a prototype solution that can autonomously shift computational loads to the datacenter where its carbon emissions from electricity consumption will be as low as possible. The solution uses emission factor forecasts based on live demand, generation, and weather data, combined with real-time energy consumption data of the workload.

This project is a continuation of the carbon-aware computing project by Microsoft, UBS, WattTime, and the Green Software Foundation. Infrastructure Assetmanagement

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij VanEerd ben ik bezig geweest met het opzetten van assetmanagement voor de IT-afdeling. Assetmanagement is een breed concept, waardoor het belangrijk is om relevante onderdelen te selecteren die aansluiten bij de specifieke behoeften van de IT-afdeling. Hiervoor heb ik gebruikgemaakt van internationale frameworks zoals IAM's Asset Management – an Anatomy, het GFMAM Landscape-model en de ISO 55000-standaarden. Dit model biedt de IT-afdeling een structuur en richtlijn voor het organiseren van processen rondom IT-assets. Het vormt bovendien een basis voor het opstellen van beleid, dat in de toekomst door de IT-afdeling verder aangevuld en aangepast kan worden op basis van ontwikkelingen.

Daarnaast is er een inventarisatie uitgevoerd van de IT-assets binnen VanEerd. Het doel van deze inventarisatie is om inzicht te krijgen in de aanwezige hardware en software(licenties) binnen de organisatie. De geïnventariseerde IT-assets zijn vervolgens geregistreerd in een assetbeheersysteem, waarin per asset de relevante informatie is vastgelegd. Deze registratie vormt een belangrijke basis voor het effectief beheren en onderhouden van de IT-assets en sluit aan bij de verwachtingen van de IT-afdeling.

Software Adding Spain's postal code address data to Pro6PP

I completed my graduation project at d-centralize in Eindhoven. D-centralize is a young company based in the Klokgebouw and consists of a young team of old students or students working on the side. One of their main projects is Pro6PP, a service that provides postal code and address data through an API or downloadable files. Its main feature lets users type in only a postal code and house number, and Pro6PP automatically fills in the rest of the address. Until now, Pro6PP supported eight European countries: The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Denmark, Switzerland, and Austria.

My project was to add Spain to that list. First, I researched how Spain’s address system works and found a reliable source for up-to-date postal code and address data. Next, I created a script to automatically download and transform that data into Pro6PP’s format, making sure everything ran smoothly and quickly to meet Pro6PP’s standards. As part of this, I tested different data-processing tools (like Pandas and Polars) to see which handled large datasets best.

Once the data was integrated, I added tests on each step of the pipeline to ensure accuracy and performance. Then I integrated Spain to the Pro6PP API, so customers could access Spanish address data just like they do with the other countries.

Winston POS is a hospitality system that is used in restaurants and bars. It takes care of everything from reservation, food ordering and payment for all involved parties – customers, restaurant owners and waiters. At its core the software consists of several web applications. This makes it dependent on an internet connection with where changes to data (such as orders or tables) are first forwarded to the cloud, from where they are sent to all other devices in the restaurant. The one that is used on local premises also has native integrations for Windows, Android and iOS devices.

My internship involved developing offline capabilities for Winston POS that enabled the core of the system to function without a connection to the cloud by taking advantage of the LAN. This offline expansion resembles an LDP (local data protocol) through which all devices on a local network reach an agreement about which one should be used as a local server. The local server keeps all other devices in sync, distributes data from one device to another and syncs changes to the cloud when the premise regains internet connection.

Software Design and Development of a Scalable Analytics Module for the CLVR SaaS Platform

Bart B.S.P. Lamers Title: Design and Development of a Scalable Analytics Module for the CLVR SaaS Platform Description:

Voor mijn afstudeerproject heb ik een Analytics-module ontworpen en ontwikkeld voor CLVR: een multi-tenant SaaS-platform dat bedrijven ondersteunt bij tijdregistratie, facturatie en projectplanning.

De vraag vanuit het bedrijf Brendan&MacKenzie was duidelijk: gebruikers registreren hun uren, maar missen inzicht in wat die uren betekenen. Mijn opdracht was om hiervoor een schaalbare oplossing te bouwen.

Mijn oplossing bestond uit het ontwikkelen van een schaalbare Analytics-module die deze inzichten automatisch zichtbaar maakt. Ik ontwierp hiervoor een eigen backend (in Go), los van de bestaande systemen (PHP), en koppelde deze via een messagebus (RabbitMQ) aan de CLVR-backend, waardoor real-time data veilig en efficiënt wordt verwerkt. Binnen de Go-backend vindt ook de eventuele transformatie van data plaats, waarna deze wordt opgeslagen in een speciaal ingericht multi-tenant ondersteunend datawarehouse (ClickHouse), een database die geoptimaliseerd is voor analytische toepassingen.

Gebruikers kunnen in de frontend (Vue.js) dashboards raadplegen met filters zoals klant, project, medewerker, (niet-)declarabele uren en/of periode. Hiermee kunnen ze bijvoorbeeld zien hoeveel uren aan een klant of taak zijn besteed, of hoe de verdeling van werk over het team eruitziet. Inzichten over winstgevendheid of budgetoverschrijding zijn op dit moment nog niet beschikbaar in CLVR, maar de module is zo ontworpen dat dit in de toekomst eenvoudig kan worden uitgebreid.

De module is gebouwd met oog voor schaalbaarheid, betrouwbaarheid en uitbreidbaarheid. Tijdens mijn onderzoek heb ik met stakeholders gesproken, keuzes gevalideerd met benchmarks en aanbevelingen geschreven voor toekomstige uitbreidingen, zoals externe integraties en voorspellende analyses.

Met deze oplossing kunnen gebruikers van CLVR beter onderbouwde beslissingen nemen, slimmer plannen en efficiënter factureren.

At Enexis I have developed a Virtual Reality application with which people who lack knowledge of the low voltage net that Enexis maintains, can learn the basics of this topic, and get good overview on how the low voltage net works and what the components of it look like. Users can put on the VR-Headset and grab a single controller, and go through the app. First, users are given a tutorial on how to use the controller in this app. Then, they are transported into a virtual Dutch neighbourhood. They go through the neighbourhood, and they learn about the meter box, straight joint, branch joint, substation, low voltage rack, transformer and the medium voltage installation. At each location in the neighbourhood, the user will see a certain part of the low voltage net, and by pointing at and selecting an element an AI-generated voice will tell them about the topic. By observing the components and listening to the explanations, the user learns about all the various components.

Hardware Interfacing Ontwikkeling van een geautomatiseerde testomgeving voor hardware

Door de toenemende vraag naar complexe embedded systemen eisen bedrijven steeds meer uitgebreide hardware- en firmware-integratietests. Dit kost bedrijven niet alleen veel labruimte en tijd, maar ook veel geld.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij 3T heb ik een testomgeving ontwikkeld voor het automatisch testen van hardware op printplaten. Met behulp van een singleboardcomputer die op afstand benaderbaar is, kunnen engineers hardware automatisch testen vanaf hun bureau. Engineers leveren zogenaamde "testrecepten" aan de testomgeving, die vervolgens naar de MINT-testapparatuur worden gestuurd. Het testsysteem valideert of de printplaat firmwarerevisie correct functioneert met de huidige test. Dit systeem stelt 3T in staat om regressietests uit te voeren zonder dat hier op klassieke wijze de tussenkomst van engineers moet plaatsvinden. Dit maakt de huidige werkwijze van het bedrijf efficiënter. Mijn opdracht omvatte de ontwikkeling van de subsystemen die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de werking van de remote singleboardcomputer en de validatie van hardware.

Fontys ICT werkt aan de implementatie van een gedefinieerd onderzoeksportfolio. Binnen dit portfolio zijn vijf focuscategorieën vastgesteld waarop Fontys ICT zich met haar onderzoek wil richten: de zogenoemde Transformative Technologies. Het doel van dit project is om te onderzoeken hoe deze Transformative Technologies effectief kunnen worden gecommuniceerd en hoe ze kunnen worden geïntegreerd binnen de onderwijsactiviteiten van Fontys ICT.

Uit het onderzoek bleek dat de doelgroepen het belangrijk vinden te begrijpen hoe de Transformative Technologies van invloed zijn op hun studie of werk. Door deze impact helder te communiceren, ontstaat er betrokkenheid en draagvlak voor de strategie. Dit inzicht bleek cruciaal voor het ontwikkelen van een effectieve communicatiestrategie rond de Transformative Technologies.

Tijdens mijn stage bij Fontys ICT heb ik gewerkt aan een interactief platform dat gebruikers informeert over de Transformative Technologies. Het platform biedt zowel algemene informatie als gepersonaliseerde content, afgestemd op hoe deze technologieën relevant zijn voor studenten en medewerkers. Daarnaast zijn er aanbevelingen gedaan voor de implementatie van de Transformative Technologies in het onderwijs.

Dit project valt binnen het kader van Open Learning en heeft als hoofdthema User Interaction, met de subthema’s Organisational Processes en Software.

User Interaction myOTTO App

During my graduation internship at OTTO Work Force, I created a full redesign of the myOTTO app, which is a key platform used by over 27,000 international employees for HR tasks, communication, and accessing personal information.
The app had grown outdated after nearly a decade of quick fixes and feature additions, resulting in a confusing interface, inconsistent design, and poor usability. My goal was to modernize the app and make it more intuitive, efficient, and visually aligned with OTTO’s brand identity.

I came up with a redesigned UI & UX with clear navigation, consistent components, and an improved visual style. This included interactive prototypes and a complete design system that will support the future implementation of the design. The final result is a cleaner, more user-friendly app that better serves OTTO’s diverse workforce.

This project contributed directly to OTTO’s digital strategy, offering a foundation for long-term improvements across its internal platforms.

Infrastructure Software Lifecycle Management for Smart Industry

During my graduation internship with Snapdaq B.V, I tackled the challenge of efficiently managing the software lifecycle across their distributed IoT devices. I developed a proof-of-concept software lifecycle management system, primarily by integrating Avassa for comprehensive gateway software management. In addition, the system leveraged the existing Wirepas integration with Snapdaq's data acquisition units, with Avassa orchestrating the delivery of firmware updates to these nodes. My goal was to create a unified, scalable solution enabling remote software commissioning, updates, and decommissioning on a per-customer basis.

The integrated system I built is designed to help Snapdaq streamline operations, enhance product reliability, and future-proof its offerings. Key deliverables were a functional proof-of-concept and comprehensive documentation. Additionally, my research included exploring enhancements to overall device security and understanding the implications of the EU Cyber Resilience Act for Snapdaq. This initiative was crucial for supporting Snapdaq's growth and success in the industrial IoT landscape.

Software XR Racer's Toolkit Rebuild

XR Racer’s Toolkit is the flagship product of GGeese Studio, a Fontys startup supported by the SPARC program, which focuses on a mixed-reality karting entertaining concept. As co-owner, I completed my graduation internship at the company, dedicating my efforts to elevating the toolkit to industry-standard quality. To achieve this, I fully reworked the software architecture, ensuring it can support diverse game genres such as racing, shooting, capture-the-flag, whack-a-mole, and easily accommodate additional modes. I also enabled co-location multiplayer, so you can bring the virtual environment into your own space to race with friends and family. In this complete merge of reality, you can drive a kart while interacting with virtual objects - accelerating through boost pads or being penalized for crossing virtual barriers and more. In addition, I designed and implemented a dedicated PC Editor and Operator interface. The Editor provides intuitive tools for crafting custom tracks: setting checkpoints, placing pick-ups and environmental assets, and configuring respawn, rewards, or punishments. The Operator dashboard then offers real-time supervision of active games, displaying player positions, lap times, and system health at a glance. Together, these tools streamline both content creation and live event management. Finally, I resolved complex issues from the initial prototype phase, such as improving object-tracking accuracy and depth calculation. This experience honed my skills in software design, mixed-reality integration, and user-centered development, and demonstrates what I can achieve as an ICT professional. I look forward to continue working and developing in GGeese Studio, bringing this new and unique experience to market soon.

Software Enhancing Security & Compliance Automation

During my graduation internship at Tidal Control B.V., a SaaS company specialising in compliance automation, I extended their platform's capabilities across multiple cloud environments. Tidal Control helps businesses stay continuously compliant with frameworks like ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2, and NIS2 through automated testing rather than traditional manual governance and risk management processes.

The company focuses on bridging the gap between businesses and compliance experts by automating compliance tasks. My project involved working with the third iteration of the automated compliance system, where I integrated GitHub and Azure DevOps while expanding support for existing providers, including GitLab, Kandji, and other Azure services.

I contributed to the open-source Blaze Query project by developing connectors and data fetchers for multiple cloud providers. Since Tidal Control leverages this framework as the foundation for their compliance testing, my contributions directly enabled the implementation of specific compliance tests within their platform.

After researching each provider's APIs, its authentication mechanisms, limitations and features, I created standardised methods for data retrieval that ensured consistent compliance checks across diverse cloud environments. The implementation included comprehensive documentation, enhanced error handling, and improved user experience through test categorisation and streamlined configuration.

In de afgelopen jaren is het belang van data-analyse en visualisatie binnen bedrijfsprocessen exponentieel toegenomen. Organisaties maken steeds vaker gebruik van complexe rapporten ter ondersteuning van strategische besluitvorming. SAP Enterprise Warehouse Management (EWM) speelt hierin een cruciale rol door bedrijven te helpen hun logistieke en magazijnprocessen efficiënter te beheren. De afstudeeropdracht richt zich op de ontwikkeling van een verbeterde en gestandaardiseerde versie van het EWM-dashboard, waarbij de standaard CDS views niet alleen optimaal aansluiten bij de bedrijfsprocessen, maar ook de meest voorkomende KPI’s ondersteunen. Dit vereist een grondige technische analyse van de bestaande CDS views en de identificatie van verbeterpunten, zowel op het gebied van datamodellering als performance-optimalisatie. Daarnaast wordt onderzocht welke best practices en visuele standaarden binnen SAC het meest geschikt zijn voor het ontwerpen van een vernieuwd dashboard. Dit zijn User Xperience en User Interfase (UX/ UI). Deze principes worden onderzocht om de weergave van de KPI’s de optimaliseren. Dit omvat zowel de functionele vereisten vanuit de business als de technische haalbaarheid binnen de SAP-architectuur

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Scenius heb ik gewerkt aan het opzetten van een systeem dat gewenste data uit software applicaties kan bijhouden, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) kan definiëren en de data progressie kan visualiseren. Het doel van dit systeem is om de toegevoegde waarde van de applicaties die Scenius ontwikkelt, duidelijker te communiceren naar klanten. Het gaat hierbij vooral om bedrijfsgerichte statistieken en niet applicatie performance statistieken, een voorbeeld KPI doelwit zou zijn: "500 chocolade repen verschepen".

During my project I focused on improving the user experience through user-centered redesign that simplified workflows and navigation. I worked closely with stakeholders including developers, product owners, and resellers to identify and address key pain points such as managing split checks, modifying orders, and quick login.

During the whole process I used frameworks like Double Diamond and DOT to guide the research and design, supported by tools such as Figma and usability testing metrics.

During my graduation internship at Zander Labs, I designed and developed a VR experience titled Kindling Thoughts. This project explores the potential of passive Brain-Computer Interface (pBCI) technology by transforming invisible brain activity into a meaningful, interactive experience.

Zander Labs specialises in reading brain signals (EEG) to determine cognitive states such as workload, all without requiring active user input. Unlike traditional BCI systems, passive BCI runs quietly in the background, interpreting mental states as you focus, relax, or become overwhelmed. While this innovation has strong potential in fields like neurofeedback, its complexity creates a barrier for the general public.

My role was to bridge this gap between science and experience through game design. Using Unity and XR development tools, I built an immersive nighttime forest where players sit beside a small campfire. As the user’s mental workload fluctuates, the scene responds in real time: a relaxed mind makes the environment come to life, while a high workload smothers the fire and darkens the environment.

By merging user interaction, neurotechnology, and virtual world-building, Kindling Thoughts provides an intuitive demonstration of how cognitive states can shape our perception and surroundings. This prototype gives Zander Labs a powerful tool to engage stakeholders and explore use cases such as waiting room stress relief, VR meditation, or adaptive learning environments.

From setting up development environments to working with LSL data streams and designing a responsive virtual experience, I gained practical skills that support my career as an immersive game developer with a strong focus on user interaction and real-time game systems.

Interconnect is een innovatief familiebedrijf met meer dan 25 jaar ervaring in de datacenter- en cloudoplossingen. Binnen deze omgeving heb ik onderzoek uitgevoerd naar verbeteringen aan het Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP).
In dit plan staan alle cruciale benodigdheden om te kunnen herstellen van rampen die het IT bedrijfsvoering in gevaar kunnen brengen. Het DRP is afgestemd op de infrastructuur en processen van Interconnect en biedt een gestructureerde aanpak voor herstel en continuïteit.
Verder heb ik een adviesrapport geschreven met aanbevelingen aan Interconnect op basis van mijn onderzoeksbevindingen. Ook heb ik gewerkt aan een Disaster Recovery Proof of Concept, waarin ik een aantal onderdelen uit het plan technisch heb uitgewerkt en getest binnen een gecontroleerde omgeving.

Tijdens mijn stageperiode bij ProRail heb ik gewerkt aan het project om inzicht te geven in de historische gegevens en trends van normoverschrijdingen uit de meettrein.

ProRail is de hoofdbeheerder van het Nederlandse spoornetwerk. De organisatie is verantwoordelijk voor de verkeersleiding van treinen, de samenwerking met vervoerders, en het aanleggen en onderhouden van de spoorinfrastructuur. Binnen ProRail houdt het team Asset Management Business Intelligence (AMBI) zich bezig om zoveel mogelijk waarde uit de informatie over de assets van de spoorinfrastructuur te halen. Dit gebeurt onder andere via dashboards die inzicht bieden in overschrijdingen die door de meettrein zijn gemeten voor Spoorgeometrie en Wisselgeometrie en de afhandeling ervan. Deze inzichten worden ook gebruikt om richting de Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport (ILT) de veilige berijdbaarheid van het spoor (AVB) te kunnen aantonen.

Het doel van mijn project is om inzicht te geven in de historische gegevens en trends van normoverschrijdingen en de opvolging daarvan uit de meettrein. In de huidige situatie geven de dashboards alleen het heden weer. Voor dit dashboard zijn er interviews gehouden met verschillende eindgebruikers binnen ProRail om zo meer te weten te komen welke inzichten er momenteel nog missen in de dashboards van het platform Spoorstaat en welke complicaties er mogelijk zijn met de applicaties die het proces ondersteunen.

Op basis van deze bevindingen is een dashboard ontwikkeld dat inzicht geeft in het aantal normoverschrijdingen, de afhandeling ervan, en de tijdigheid van deze afhandeling. Daarnaast biedt het dashboard de mogelijkheid om vergelijkingen te kunnen maken tussen jaren, maanden, gebieden, zodat ProRail gerichter analyses kan uitvoeren. Deze dashboards worden aan de ene kant gebruikt om aan te tonen dat ProRail in control is, en aan de andere kant om issues in de processen zichtbaar te maken, zodat de nodige maatregelen tijdig genomen kunnen worden.

One of the technologies that Rambus offers is confidential computing (CC). CC is adopted to
address privacy and regulatory concerns associated with new-age computing. One of the things
required by CC is memory encryption of data in use (In-line Memory Encryption (IME)), typically
Double Data Rate (DDR) memory. This provides protection between workloads and applications
which do not share a common security context but also against physical tampering of hardware.
Having an in-line memory encryption with different security context for different memory re-
gions is therefore crucial. One of the Intellectual Properties (IP) Rambus offers is the IME-IP-340
an in-line memory encryption engine ideally suited for CC applications. The IME-IP-340 provides
Advanced Encryption Standard - Galois/Counter Mode (AES-GCM) encryption, which is highly
configurable and has different trade-offs depending on its configuration. Rambus wants to put into
picture what these trade-offs are given certain configurations and also see what impact memory
encryption in general has on a system.

MijnGemeenteDichtbij is de werkorganisatie voor de gemeenten Boxtel en Sint-Michielsgestel. Met de personele samenvoeging van Boxtel en Sint-Michielsgestel in 2016 is MGD ontstaan. Het streven is om goed leven en werken in de beide gemeenten mogelijk te maken. De organisatie is te typeren als informeel, dynamisch en laagdrempelig. De lijnen met de besturen zijn kort en je bent nauw betrokken bij de ambities en opgaven van beide gemeenten.

Het doel van het onderzoek is om een nieuwe methode te vinden voor het efficiënt en effectief automatiseren van taken binnen MijnGemeenteDichtbij. Dit omvat het analyseren en vergelijken van verschillende automatiseringsoplossingen, zowel open-source als betaalde varianten, om de meest geschikte optie te identificeren. Daarnaast is onderzocht hoe het proces rondom on- en offboarding kan worden geoptimaliseerd, zodat deze processen sneller, minder foutgevoelig en beter beheersbaar worden. Hierbij is gekeken naar functionaliteiten zoals selfservice-opties, integratie met bestaande systemen en het minimaliseren van handmatige handelingen. Ook is er aandacht besteed aan beveiliging, compliance en kostenfactoren, zodat de implementatie niet alleen efficiënt, maar ook veilig en financieel haalbaar is. Uiteindelijk moet dit onderzoek bijdragen aan een gestroomlijnd en geautomatiseerd IT-beheer dat de operationele last vermindert en de productiviteit verhoogt.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Beyonder, een softwarebedrijf dat zich richt op digitale transformatie, heb ik een AI-gedreven code review tool ontwikkeld. Het doel was om het handmatige reviewproces van programmeercode te versnellen en te verbeteren. Handmatige code reviews kosten vaak veel tijd en zijn niet altijd even consistent, wat de kwaliteit van software beïnvloedt.

Met behulp van machine learning analyseert de tool automatisch wijzigingen in de code en genereert direct feedback. Deze feedback verschijnt direct in GitLab, het platform dat ontwikkelaars bij Beyonder dagelijks gebruiken. Zo ontvangen zij objectieve, consistente opmerkingen op hun werk, zonder extra handmatige stappen.

Naast deze automatisering heb ik ook een feedbackplatform ontwikkeld, waarmee ontwikkelaars eenvoudig kunnen aangeven of de AI-feedback terecht was of niet. Deze terugkoppeling wordt opgeslagen en kan in de toekomst worden gebruikt om het AI-model te verbeteren. Zo leert de tool op termijn van de reacties van echte gebruikers en wordt de kwaliteit van de feedback steeds beter.

During my graduation at AppArt, a marketing and communications agency, I developed a full-stack application to improve the management of domains, hosting contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs). The current process at AppArt relied heavily on Excel spreadsheets, which proved to be error-prone, inefficient, and difficult to scale.

My goal was to create a secure, maintainable, and scalable system that would automate this workflow. The system includes a backend built with Laravel and a frontend developed using Angular. It offers functionalities for managing clients, domains, hosting packages, and SLA packages. A key feature is that new domains are automatically imported via the TransIP API.

The user interface allows AppArt employees to easily view and manage domain data, including pricing. Clients can be created, updated, and linked directly to their corresponding domains, hosting and SLA contracts. All actions are protected using role-based access control, and the system is designed with future scalability in mind.

The project has already shown to reduce manual administrative work and improve data reliability. Notifications are being added next to ensure proactive service delivery.

With this project, I gained practical experience in designing software architecture, integrating third-party APIs, managing secure data flows, and working iteratively with stakeholders. The final product lays the groundwork for a more automated and reliable digital service infrastructure at AppArt.

Mijn afstudeerproject heb ik met veel enthousiasme uitgevoerd bij mijn huidige werkgever, Vitalis Woonzorg Groep in Eindhoven. Sinds april 2025 ben ik hier werkzaam als applicatiebeheerder van een breed scala aan zorg- en ondersteunende applicaties, waaronder TOPdesk. Een cruciale tool binnen onze digitale zorgondersteuning.

Vanuit het bestuurscentrum ondersteunen we ruim 20 locaties, waarbij diverse specialistische teams zoals de behandelaarsgroepen, servicedesk, werkplekbeheer, systeem- en netwerkbeheer, applicatiebeheer, zorgtechnologie, huisvesting en technische dienst nauw samenwerken om hoogwaardige zorg mogelijk te maken.

In het afgelopen jaar hebben we een belangrijke digitale transitie doorgemaakt: de overstap van Ultimo naar TOPdesk. Waar we voorheen enkel registraties en afhandelingen uitvoerden, stelt de nieuwe TOPdesk-omgeving ons in staat te werken met een geïntegreerde set van modules zoals Incidentmanagement, Changemanagement, Problemmanagement en Assetmanagement.

Binnen dit verandertraject heb ik een sleutelrol vervuld in de doorontwikkeling van onze ITSM-processen. Mijn belangrijkste realisatie is het volledig herontwerpen en inrichten van het Selfserviceportaal. Dit portaal fungeert nu als dé centrale toegangspoort voor zorgmedewerkers om snel en eenvoudig tickets in te dienen. Dankzij slim ingerichte, zelfstandig geconfigureerde automatiseringen worden meldingen direct doorgestuurd naar de juiste behandelaarsgroepen, en worden wijzigingen automatisch gekoppeld aan de bijbehorende wijzigingssjablonen. Hierdoor is het proces aanzienlijk efficiënter en gebruiksvriendelijker geworden.

Het resultaat? Een efficiënter proces, kortere doorlooptijden, verhoogde gebruikerstevredenheid én een professioneel ingerichte serviceomgeving die klaar is voor de toekomst.

The solution is developing AI messaging and orchestration to manage the Kafka queues, so that the external services and AI models can communicate each other by exchanging messages through queues.

Het vinden van data in een gedecentraliseerde clusterarchitectuur met 200+ clusters is een hele opgave, daarom is het project lokalisatie in het leven geroepen door PharmaPartners om dit te versimpelen.
Het lokalisatie mechanisme maakt het mogelijk om intern, maar in de toekomst ook extern, inzichtelijk te maken welke data beschikbaar is en waar deze data te vinden is. Denk hierbij aan patiënt data zoals de Professionele Samenvatting (een Professionele Samenvatting is een samenvatting van het patiëntdossier waarbij alle relevante informatie over de gezondheid van een patiënt gedeeld kan worden met andere zorgverleners).
Zo wil een intern systeem wellicht de PS van een patiënt opvragen, maar weet niet op welk cluster deze te vinden is. Hiervoor kan het lokalisatie mechanisme bevraagd worden om een locatie te krijgen. Hierdoor hoeft het vragende systeem niet meer alle clusters langs te gaan om deze informatie op te halen.
Ook zijn er door de jaren heen verschillende complexe zoekalgoritmes opgezet in verschillende interne systemen om het zoeken van data te vergemakkelijken/versnellen, alleen zijn dit geen generieke oplossingen. Door het opzetten van een lokalisatie mechanisme kan dit generiek opgezet worden waardoor de complex zoekalgoritmes niet meer nodig zijn.

Software Automated Release Management: From Chaos to Control

In moderne softwareontwikkeling zijn frequente releases de standaard. Toch verloopt het releasen van nieuwe softwareversies in veel teams nog grotendeels handmatig, wat veel tijd kost en foutgevoelig is. Binnen mijn afstudeerproject richt ik mij op het optimaliseren en automatiseren van het release management proces bij een development team dat werkt met GitHub en Jira.

Het huidige proces kost per release gemiddeld twee uur en vraagt van developers dat zij handmatig branches identificeren, mergen en valideren. Mijn oplossing is een Proof of Concept (PoC) tool die dit proces grotendeels automatiseert.

De tool maakt gebruik van de GitHub API en haalt automatisch relevante branches en Jira-issues op die bij een release horen. Vervolgens wordt er automatisch een release branch aangemaakt en worden pull requests gegenereerd voor de benodigde merges. Developers ontvangen automatische notificaties en krijgen een duidelijk overzicht van de wijzigingen. Ook kan er, indien gewenst, integratie plaatsvinden met Confluence voor het documenteren van de release.

De oplossing maakt gebruik van moderne technologieën en sluit aan bij DevOps en CI/CD-principes. Hierdoor wordt niet alleen veel tijd bespaard, maar wordt ook de kans op menselijke fouten verkleind. Het resultaat is een efficiënter releaseproces dat beter aansluit op de Agile werkwijze van het team.

Met dit project draag ik bij aan zowel technische innovatie als procesverbetering binnen de organisatie.

ASML has various departments each responsible for different businesses. One of the departments is called FC-devenv. Within this department I will be part of the data analytics team. The data analytics team is responsible for improving software development, security and licensing costs. They provide insights into data for other teams. To collect and illustrate these insights the platform Splunk is used mainly. Based on the data they provide we help them get value out of the data. (e.g. dashboard, reports, alerts). That can decide what to do with these products.

My assignment will make use of the Splunk platform for end users by using cloud technologies or an on-premise solution. The objective of this project is to explore and implement an external storage solution that integrates with Splunk, the data analytics platform used by ASML. The aim is to improve data accessibility while reducing costs, targeting at least a 25% reduction in license expenses by circumventing the ingestion of large audit logs into Splunk.

A key requirement for this project is that the data stored externally remains searchable using the Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL). This functionality will ensure that the data analytics capabilities offered by Splunk are fully supported. By utilizing external storage for data management, the aim is to address the challenges posed by ASML's continuously growing data volumes.

Software AI-Driven Advertisement Automation

During my project, I designed and developed two AI-powered, full-stack platforms, Prodshot.io and Adgen.io, to automate ad creation for the digital advertising industry. Prodshot.io focused on automated product photography, while Adgen.io provided a guided experience for creating diverse ad formats including images and videos.

These platforms were built to streamline marketing workflows by automating traditionally manual processes such as data scraping, copywriting, and overall asset generation through the integration of machine learning algorithms and Generative AI pipelines. Key developments included automated image editing capabilities, a robust backend API for asset generation, and an intuitive user-friendly interface. The solutions successfully reduced ad production time and costs, lowered the barrier to entry for creating professional-grade advertisements, and the resulting prototypes were tested in commercial conditions.

Mijn opdracht richt zich op het verbeteren van de gebruikerservaring van Cheflix. Dit doe ik door een nieuwe architectuur te implementeren met Next.js, in combinatie met Contentful (headless CMS), Algolia (zoekfunctionaliteit) en Audience Player (videostreaming). Deze verbeteringen moeten zorgen voor een snellere, gebruiksvriendelijkere en toegankelijkere website. Dit project voer ik uit binnen LiveWall, een digitaal bureau gespecialiseerd in innovatieve engagement-oplossingen.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij VECOZO heb gewerkt aan een nieuwe interne applicatie voor het beheer van certificaten die gebruikt worden voor authenticatie bij integratietesten. VECOZO is een IT-organisatie gericht op het ontwikkelen en standaardiseren van (digitale) datakoppelingen tussen zorgverleners en zorgverzekeraars. Hierdoor richt het zich op het verlagen van de administratieve lasten in de Nederlandse zorg. Voor veilige communicatie wordt onder andere gebruik gemaakt van X.509 certificaten voor authenticatie. Om de kwaliteit van de code te garanderen wordt deze ook goed getest, door middel van verschillende soorten testen. Ook voor de testen moet er ingelogd worden met een certificaat, deze certificaten met bijbehorende gebruikerseigenschappen worden beheerd vanuit een eigen applicatie. In de loop van de tijd zijn er steeds meer wensen en verbeterpunten bijgekomen voor deze applicatie. Het doel van de stage was uitzoeken hoe dit proces van het beheer van de certificaten eenvoudiger gemaakt kan worden en een nieuwe applicatie maken, die rekening houdt met de wensen van de gebruikers.

Atos/Eviden staat momenteel voor aanzienlijke uitdagingen met betrekking tot hun slagingspercentage bij het inschrijven op aanbestedingen. Dit probleem komt voort uit verschillende factoren:

1. Het identificeren van geschikte aanbestedingen om op in te schrijven is een tijdrovend proces, dat het grootste deel van de beschikbare tijd in beslag neemt vergeleken met het daadwerkelijk schrijven van een goed onderbouwde reactie naar de klant.
2. Elke nieuwe inschrijving wordt vanaf nul opgebouwd, waarbij eerdere successen met vorige biedingen en domeinkennis van het type project worden genegeerd. Dit leidt tot onnodige tijdsbesteding aan het opzetten van een initiële structuur en kennisbasis.
3 .De huidige geschreven reacties zijn inconsistent van kwaliteit. Factoren zoals generieke antwoorden en/of taalgebruik zorgen ervoor dat reacties saai, onsamenhangend of zelfs chaotisch overkomen op de betrokken partijen.

Deze factoren zorgen samen voor veel handmatig werk en overhead, wat op zijn beurt de efficiëntie verlaagt.

Mijn doel was daarom een AI-softwareoplossing te ontwerpen en implementeren die medewerkers van Atos/Eviden in het (pre-)sales team in staat stelt om sneller dan nu handmatig mogelijk is relevante aanbestedingen te analyseren en selecteren om te vervolgen.

Door belangrijke onderdelen zoals aanbestedingsextractie/-analyse te automatiseren op basis van persoonlijke filters, kunnen (pre)sales medewerkers van Atos/Eviden de tijd en moeite die wordt besteed aan deze voorheen handmatige taken verminderen en de algehele productiviteit verhogen. Dit stelt medewerkers in staat zich te richten op het opstellen van kwalitatief betere biedingen, wat uiteindelijk de kans op gunning vergroot!

Koninklijke Kentalis is een landelijke organisatie voor zorg, onderwijs en onderzoek, gespecialiseerd in de begeleiding van mensen met een communicatieve beperking, zoals doofheid, slechthorendheid of een taalontwikkelingsstoornis.
Binnen Kentalis wordt in toenemende mate gebruik gemaakt van Microsoft 365 applicaties, zoals Teams, OneDrive en Exchange Online. Deze zijn essentieel geworden voor samenwerking, communicatie en de dagelijkse bedrijfsvoering. Ondanks dit toegenomen gebruik is het beheer en de inrichting van deze applicaties binnen Kentalis niet structureel meegegroeid met de ontwikkelingen van het platform.

Er is sprake van een gefragmenteerd en onvolledig beheer van de M365 applicaties. Daarnaast is onduidelijk in hoeverre de technische inrichting van de Microsoft 365 applicaties voldoet aan de beveiligingsrichtlijnen van de NEN 7510 en de aankomende NIS2-wetgeving.

Dit onderzoek richt zich op het verbeteren van het beheer van Microsoft 365-applicaties binnen Kentalis. Waarbij tegelijkertijd wordt gekeken hoe de M365 applicaties kunnen voldoen aan de geldende normen.

Software Recreating the Build System for the Philips Hue Bridge v2

The Philips Hue Bridge is the heart of any Hue household, by connecting and controlling all Hue devices. It uses an embedded Linux operating system, but the current build system has become outdated—slowing down development and limiting future improvements.

This internship project explored a modern alternative: an open-source build system that simplifies and accelerates development. The new system can build both the Linux kernel and the root filesystem, and also provides a developer workstation with tools like serial communication and power control for working on the device. The result: a new build system that boots to a functional Linux shell, and the development setup to validate the installation.

The results show that switching to the new build system is not only feasible, but beneficial. It marks a crucial first step toward a more efficient, maintainable, and scalable platform.

The internship also began a deeper dive into migrating the user-space applications, aiming for a full transformation of the Hue Bridge software stack.

If the migration is completed, the Hue Bridge will become faster while reducing its memory and storage fingerprint, and bring in significant savings for Signify through more efficient development time.

Research Solutions Toolkit (ReSoTo) EcoSystem — a code generation platform I developed during my graduation internship. ReSoTo aims help in the software creation process by transforming a simple set of requirements into fully functional microservice software, drastically reducing development time and errors.

Powered by the LEMMA code generation framework, originally developed by Dr. Florian Rademacher, ReSoTo breathes new life into this dormant technology. My work involved reviving, adjusting, and extending LEMMA, transforming it into a framework specifically built for our code generation needs, ready for future additions.

This project not only streamlines research for future students but also demonstrates the power of automation in software engineering.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Freshheads heb ik een proof of concept ontwikkeld voor een AI ondersteunde oplossing die het ontwikkelproces van zorgrichtlijnen moet optimaliseren. Het doel is om schrijvers van de zorgrichtlijnen in het Richtlijnenplatform te ondersteunen bij het schrijven en verbeteren van zorgrichtlijndocumenten.

De oplossing maakt gebruik van een Large Language Model, aangestuurd via een backend, waarmee gebruikers opdrachten kunnen geven om teksten te analyseren, samen te vatten of te herschrijven. Ik heb onderzocht welke AI framework het meest geschikt is, requirements opgesteld op basis van best practisen in de AI, en mijn prototype geëvalueerd op bruikbaarheid, uitlegbaarheid en betrouwbaarheid.

Tijdens mijn presentatie licht ik het ontwerp, de onderliggende architectuur en de belangrijkste leerpunten van deze AI oplossing toe.

During my graduation internship at Carapax IT, I worked on a project that explores the potential of using Large Language Models (LLMs) to support the attribution/finding out of odors and smells from industrial environments. Currently, determining the true source of such odors is a manual, complex, time-consuming task due to overlapping industrial activities, changing weather patterns, and vague human reporting. This project investigates whether LLMs can interpret and reason over complaint data to aid environmental monitoring systems(e.g E-noses).

Imagine a system that can read and understand odor complaints submitted by residents alongside geo/weather data and, instead of just storing or displaying them, intelligently analyze and classify the best possible "sources" of the smell. By embedding this intelligence in environmental dashboards, authorities can gain faster, more consistent insights into where the odor problems may be originating.

Ultimately, this project served as a research and development effort, aiming not just to deliver a finished product, but to test the boundaries of what is possible when applying LLMs to real-world, multi-source data classification tasks.

It is important to note that the proposed system is not intended to replace human experts but to assist environmental analysts by accelerating the process of understanding and organizing large volumes of complaint information.

Software Attendance module with real-time synchronization

Tijdens mijn stage bij Ivengi heb ik gewerkt aan het ontwikkelen van een geïntegreerde aanwezigheidsmodule binnen hun bestaande maatwerkapplicatie. De aanleiding voor dit project was de inefficiëntie van het huidige systeem, waarin medewerkers hun aanwezigheid en verlof handmatig bijhouden in een gedeeld Excel-bestand via SharePoint. Dit systeem bood geen ondersteuning voor real-time rapportages, automatische verwerking van gegevens of integratie met andere bedrijfsprocessen.

De nieuwe module lost deze beperkingen op door medewerkers in staat te stellen hun aanwezigheid, werkplek (thuis of kantoor), verlof en ziekte digitaal en gebruiksvriendelijk te registreren. Daarnaast biedt de module voor HR en teamleiders uitgebreide dashboards met inzicht in teamcapaciteit, trends in ziekteverzuim en verlofpatronen. Een belangrijk technisch kenmerk is de real-time synchronisatie van gegevens met een Microsoft 365 Excel-bestand, zodat HR eenvoudig aanvullende berekeningen kan uitvoeren.

De module is ontwikkeld als onderdeel van een modulaire monolith-architectuur met behulp van Node.js, Angular, MongoDB en RabbitMQ. Er is ook gebruik gemaakt van de Microsoft Graph API voor koppeling met Excel. Tijdens het project is veel aandacht besteed aan schaalbaarheid, beveiliging, gebruikersrollen en toegangsbeheer. Door deze aanpak sluit de oplossing goed aan op de bestaande processen van Ivengi en biedt het ruimte voor toekomstige uitbreiding.

Het eindproduct draagt bij aan efficiënter personeelsbeheer, minder administratieve lasten en beter inzicht in de beschikbaarheid van medewerkers. Daarmee levert het project zowel functionele als strategische waarde voor de organisatie.

Blueconic is a customer data platform with multiple servers. Customers can rent a portion of these servers, known as a tenant, where the Blueconic product gathers their customer data. These tenants operate independently and can be managed directly by the customers. Because of this autonomy, tenants require thorough monitoring using various tools. One such internal application is the tenant manager, which provides an overview of tenants, including their key values (such as the number of customer profiles or data connections) and plugins (like analytical tools), as well as their instances. However, the current tenant manager suffers from slow loading times and an outdated design. This project aims to address these issues by upgrading the tenant manager's functionality and user experience. Discover the improvements at my graduation session!

Software AI for Real-Time Medical Image Enhancement

As the Signal Processing Systems (SPS) research group at the TUE are exploring shifting ultrasound imaging from local hardware to cloud-based processing, machine learning—specifically neural networks—is proposed to improve upon traditional filtering methods.
In collaboration with the SPS team, I developed, trained, tuned, and validated a convolutional neural network (CNN) to replace the Gaussian noise reduction step. I studied the fundamentals of echocardiography and researched similar noise problems in other imaging domains, such as synthetic aperture radar (SAR). By identifying cross-domain problems, I applied transfer learning to the SAR CNN-trained model, then retrained and optimized the model for medical ultrasound data.
After multiple training and validation cycles, the model showed clear improvements. I integrated it into the processing pipeline, in the process replacing the traditional filter.

The objective for the assignment is to increase operational efficiency and asset performance at DAF Used Trucks by using machine learning models and advanced analytics. Focus is on process mining, which involves data cleaning, data mining and the mapping of process event logs from business systems. The resulting translation of process performance in workflows leads to insights into sources of waste such as defects, inconsistencies and inefficiencies, as well as potential bottlenecks in the end-to-end process. These insights require in-depth analysis to uncover root causes to solve. In addition, the application of machine learning models to asset performance metrics can detect anomalies that identify underlying issues. The combination of root cause identification and anomaly detection will enable DAF to continuously improve upon their processes in order to decrease the time to market and make better use of resources available. By proactively sharing performance insights and analysis results, the IT team is aiming to grow a digital mindset within the organization and inspire colleagues at the business to make use of the vast amounts of data that became available with the launch of the new system landscape end of 2024. Data-driven and continuous improvement makes it possible to increase efficiency and by extension offer greater value to customers.

During my graduation internship at UNHOSTED, a blockchain company based in Switzerland, I worked as part of a team developing an AI-based tool to help people better understand what is happening in the cryptocurrency market. The project focuses on making complex crypto data like token price changes, public reactions, and technical indicators - easier to read and use.
My main tasks were building a sentiment analysis system using social media data and helping improve how short, readable reports are generated for each token. These reports explain what is happening, why it's happening, and what could happen next.
The tool uses different AI components (called agents), each focused on a specific data source. Their results are combined by a central unit, which creates one clear and helpful answer for the user.
The final system will also support simple text commands like “Send 20 dollars to Jack” to make crypto easier to use for everyday people.

UnitedConsumers offers consumers benefits on fuel, electricity, gas, mobile subscriptions, health, and car insurance. UnitedConsumers develops and manages its own IT landscape and applications that support primary processes, customer service and customer interaction.

In recent years, Event Sourcing has become increasingly popular as a software architecture pattern. In this pattern, the state of an application is maintained through a series of events instead of updating the current state directly. These events represent the historical sequence of actions performed on the system and are stored in an event log in the order in which they occurred.

This architecture pattern could be used to improve scalability, performance, and auditability within the financial system for invoicing and payments.
This system is currently in limited use, but will eventually process more than 2 million invoices for hundreds of thousands of customers. This number will grow further due to new services the company will offer.

The aim of this project was to investigate to what extent the Event Sourcing architecture pattern could contribute to a more scalable and efficient financial system for invoicing and payments within UnitedConsumers. A Proof of Concept was created in which one business process was implemented using Event Sourcing. The project also offers insight into the potential for a wider adoption of Event Sourcing within the organisation.

During my graduation internship at Lectoraat Interaction Design (Fontys ICT), I explored the boundary between physical and digital identity through the reconstruction of my great-great-grandfather, Peter Dielesen. My project combines AI, voice synthesis, and historical research to create a virtual human that interacts with visitors, inviting them to reflect on memory, identity, and mortality in a data-driven world.

Visitors at Dutch Design Week 2025 will encounter Peter as part of a life-sized, multi-sensory installation. But this is not just a digital puppet, it's a carefully curated echo of a real person, reconstructed from birth and death certificates, historical records, and simulated personality traits.

My research touches on theories like the Extended Self, Distributed Memory, and the Uncanny Valley, raising ethical questions about whether identity can persist beyond the physical body; and whether we should bring someone back through data.

This project combines art, AI, interaction design, and philosophy to challenge how we view ourselves in an age of digital immortality.

Cloudoplossingen zijn een steeds groter onderdeel van het ICT-landschap. Bij Covadis is het gebruik van Azure, het cloudplatform van Microsoft, dan ook een veelvoorkomend fenomeen. Echter heeft het bedrijf nog verschillende projecten in beheer die bij een traditioneel hostingsbedrijf draaien. Bij de opdrachtgever bestaat dan ook de wens om deze ‘on-premise’ applicaties op termijn te migreren naar een Azure Cloudomgeving. In het bijzonder heeft de Bartboxx applicatie in dit project de focus.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Covadis heb ik de migratie van bestaande applicaties naar een Azure cloudomgeving onderzocht. Verschillende knelpunten en oplossingen zijn in kaart gebracht. Deze oplossingen heb ik bij het Bartboxx project toegepast. Alle kennis van het totale project komt samen in het migratiemodel: een document dat als startpunt voor toekomstige Cloudmigraties binnen Covadis.
