Dit versterkt de efficiëntie en transparantie van het matchingproces, waardoor recruiters beter geïnformeerde beslissingen kunnen nemen en kunnen bijdragen aan het opbouwen van duurzame relaties tussen professionals en opdrachtgevers.

The graduation internship was completed at Beeyond, where I focused on enhancing their data management system. A crucial aspect of this system involves storing product information for businesses. These businesses perform tasks on the stored data through workflows. The challenge we aimed to overcome was the delay that occurred when one workflow depended on another.
To address this challenge, I restructured the system by introducing workflow chains, enabling the execution of multiple workflows. A chain groups workflows together, allowing for the seamless execution of multiple tasks simultaneously. This modification results in a more efficient and user-friendly experience for businesses in executing workflows.

The project I will create the application for is a newly developed scooping station, where an automated rail system bring the workers a barrel from which they will have to scoop a certain ammount into a bag. My application will provide them with all necessary information, as the current weight of the bag, the ammount of powder they will have to scoop and also the safety instructions. I will be doing this using only Java for both the front-end UI and the back-end logic.

Op websites van klanten als Sligro worden webpagina’s getest waarbij aangepaste informatie wordt getoond aan eindgebruikers met de client-side implementatie. Uit het onderzoek is gebleken dat de hybride implementatie de meest geschikte is om personalisaties te leveren aan eindgebruikers. Tijdens de afstudeerstage is een proof of concept ontwikkeld dat mogelijk maakt om personalisaties via de server te leveren aan eindgebruikers.

Software Dynamisch Lijn Dashboard

Als system integrator adviseert, ontwerpt en implementeert Actemium complete productieautomatiseringsoplossingen in een verscheidenheid aan marktsegmenten. De organisatie is opgedeeld in business units die elk 1 of meerdere marktsegmenten bedienen met markt-specifieke oplossingen. Deze opdracht betreft de business unit Eindhoven (o.a. diervoeders, chemie) in Son. Binnen Actemium worden op gebied van Industrial IT/Level 3 (L3) een grote diversiteit aan software gerealiseerd. In fabrieken van klanten van Actemium bestaan productielijnen, deze lijnen bevatten verschillende sensoren door de gehele lijn heen, deze sensoren die verbonden zijn aan PLC’s geven data door aan de software producten van Actemium. Een belangrijk onderdeel van deze software is het inzicht geven aan de eindklant wat de status is van de productie lijnen. Dit betekent dat de eindklant zo snel mogelijk inzicht krijgt wanneer er een calamiteit is met een van de productielijnen. De huidige weergave is niet intuitief genoeg en is niet bereikbaar buiten het MES systeem, dus zal er enige kennis nodig zijn van het systeem om deze weergave in te zien. Het doel van het project is het bouwen van een dynamisch dashboard software systeem, welke data verkrijgt van huidige software producten, deze verwerkt en op een overzichtelijkere manier toont dan de huidige methode. In het project wordt gebruik gemaakt van moderne technieken zoals: .NET Blazor, Docker, MassTransit en Redis, daarnaast is er ook onderzoek gedaan naar de Cloud mogelijkheden.

The Lectorate has a couple of projects running that uses autonomous wayfinding robots. They purchase these from companies who develop them. However as soon as there’s an update these companies either take a long time to follow up on it or they bring a new version to the market which must be bought again. A project to create their own version of one of these robots has been going on for a couple of years as well. This project hasn’t gotten as far as they had hoped to be at this point. Because of this, other options were getting considered including an open-source robot.

The open-source project they found was called the Linorobot2. This consists of a GitHub which should include all the information necessary to build the robot, download the firmware and get the robot up and running. The goal of this internship is to build the robot and to research if it can be used for the projects as a replacement for the other robots the lectorate has. During this it’s important to document all the important information and findings to ensure the next users will have an easier time getting started and all/most of the encountered problems to be prevented.

During my graduation internship at Kipi Interactive I created a plugin for the Unreal Engine 5 that is capable of creating procedurally-generated content. The plugin will enable the in-house developers and level designers to generate gameplay elements, such as maps, levels and models automatically, rather than generating them by hand, using procedural generation methods and algorithms. The addition of such content will add a replayability factor to the user experience and will greatly aid the work of level designers. During the development process I conducted research into the architecture of the Unreal Engine, methods for procedural generation and how it will affect the user experience. The final version of the plugin will be able to replace assets, modify tiles and generate level layouts, based on different pre-defined properties.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Hoppenbrouwers Techniek in Udenhout heb ik onderzoek gedaan naar het gebruik van op data gerichte hulpmiddelen (dashboards) op de afdelingen. In het kader van data gedreven werken en toekomstgerichte groei kwam vanuit het bestuur van Hoppenbrouwers de vraag voor de afdeling Data om meer te gaan sturen op data. Het doel wat ze hiermee voor ogen hebben is het stimuleren van groei in de organisatie, in meer omzet en meer vestigingen. Er zijn destijds tientallen BI dashboards gemaakt in Qlik Sense, die bevorderend werkten voor de bedrijfsprocessen op de afdelingen. Echter, na verloop van tijd bleek dat er grote verschillen aanwezig zijn in de adoptie/effectiviteit in het gebruik van data/dashboards tussen de afdelingen. Het maken van BI dashboards kost veel tijd en geld, daarom vinden ze het bij Hoppenbrouwers jammer om te zien dat er vervolgens niet genoeg mee wordt gedaan. Ze vroegen zich af wat er moest gebeuren op de afdelingen om ervoor te zorgen dat het gebruik van op data gerichte hulpmiddelen verbeterd. In mijn onderzoek heb ik in 18 weken tijd onderzocht wat de achterliggende oorzaak is van de verschillende adoptie/effectiviteit van de BI dashboards op de afdelingen en wat de verbetermogelijkheden zijn op het gebied van datagericht werken. Het belangrijkste vraagstuk van het onderzoek is het meetbaar maken van data gedreven werken. Het adviesrapport met vervolgstappen wat opgeleverd wordt zorgt ervoor dat Hoppenbrouwers inzicht krijgt in wat er nodig is om in de toekomst meer data gedreven te gaan werken. Dit rapport wordt ondersteund door een Proof of Concept van een KPI-dashboard, wat bedoeld is om data gedreven werken en voortgang hierin meetbaar te maken, zodat er in de toekomst gericht gestuurd kan worden op data. Al het bereikte resultaat van de stageperiode wordt in deze sessie getoond.

Fastmicro enables process quality engineers to make reliable decisions on where and how to improve their cleanliness processes and deliver consistent quality products, and ultimately, achieve high equipment performance for their end users. Fastmicro helps with reducing yield losses and keeping up with ever-increasing cleanliness requirements. Fastmicro was founded after 15 years of research and development based on technology co-developed with the research institute TNO. In the meantime, Fastmicro has delivered installations in seven countries worldwide. Fastmicro aims to accomplish breakthroughs in cleanliness control with fast, accurate and quantitative surface particle measurements.
The technology used for detecting surface particles is mie scattering metrology (see figure). By illuminating a target surface and detecting the scattered light beams, particles can be detected that are smaller than the resolution of the camera. It only works on flat low roughness surfaces, but can test a large region of interest in one go. In the current situation a small amount of images get captured in a row using varying exposure times (8 – 500ms).

Recently there has been a forced change in the camera used for detecting particles. It has more pixels and a larger aspect ratio, runs on new firmware, and has a new Software Development Kit (SDK). Unfortunately, these changes have significantly increased the time it takes to capture a single image compared to its predecessor, greatly affecting the measurement times of the Fastmicro products (from 4 seconds to around 10 seconds for one measurement). In turn, this has resulted in a drop in the efficiency of the operators using the Fastmicro products, and therefore on the throughput of Fastmicro’s customers. Speeding up the image-capturing process while maintaining the image quality will open up new possibilities for more accurate measurements within the current time frame and/or increased throughput for Fastmicro’s customers.

For this assignment, I researched multiple cameras and their respective firmware and tested their performances using a test platform I created. From the gathered data I was able to determine the most important factors in the image-capturing process and their significance in each camera. Visualizing this data using pivot charts and other means helped me to translate the results to the company, come up with a substantiated faster setup suggestion, and give them valuable insights for future decisions.

Scholt has their new BI system up and running, the whole process of cleaning and processing the data is good. Now they want to actually use that data in reports using Power BI. To do this they need a plan on how to use Power BI from best practices in design to connecting their data solution to the reports. This is what this project is about, writing out a plan to implement Power BI into Scholt Energy so they can use it to make informed decisions based on the new BI system that they have created. It will be mostly research based, looking at Scholt BI setup, their data setup specifically and how this connects to Power BI, how Scholt can use Power BI how they would like to and how to actually implement these changes. A proof of concept will also be made in the form of a dashboard to show the results of the research.

Tijdens mijn stage bij Canon Production Printing in Venlo heb ik mij gericht op het verbeteren van informatie- en kennisbeheer binnen de IT-afdeling Design Applications & PLM. Het primaire probleem was de ongecoördineerde verdeling van de documentatie, van technische informatie tot onderhoudscontracten, over diverse informatiesystemen. Bovendien hanteerde elk domein binnen de afdeling zijn eigen methode voor het zoeken, opslaan, delen en ophalen van informatie, wat resulteerde in een gebrek aan een gestandaardiseerde structuur. De meeste kennis werd opgeslagen in de hoofden van medewerkers, wat leidde tot een afhankelijkheid van specifieke personen voor het verkrijgen van informatie. Dit veroorzaakte problemen voor zowel nieuwe als ervaren medewerkers, die moeite hadden om de benodigde informatie snel en efficiënt te vinden.

Mijn aanpak bestond uit een grondige analyse van de huidige informatiestructuren, gevolgd door het opstellen van aanbevelingen om zowel de structuur als de toegankelijkheid van documenten te verbeteren. Daarna werkte ik aan het ontwikkelen van een systematische benadering voor informatiebeheer. Het doel was om een efficiënte en goed georganiseerde omgeving voor documentbeheer te creëren, waarbij SharePoint fungeert als de basis voor documentopslag en Teams als het front-end communicatieplatform.

Een belangrijk aspect van mijn project was de integratie van Microsoft Copilot, dat recentelijk is uitgebracht. Deze geavanceerde AI-assistent verbetert niet alleen de functionaliteiten van SharePoint en Teams, maar draagt ook bij aan de verbetering van de toegankelijkheid van informatie. Mijn onderzoek en adviezen omvatten de voorbereiding van de organisatie op de implementatie en integratie van Copilot binnen Microsoft 365-applicaties. Daarbij ligt de nadruk op gebruikerstoegangscontrole, inhoudsorganisatie, en verandermanagement, om optimaal te profiteren van de mogelijkheden van Copilot.

Lumosa levert wereldwijd LED verlichting voor sportvelden en stadions.

Bij het aannemen van een opdracht worden er verschillende afstandsmetingen gedaan om zo een goed mogelijk beeld te krijgen van de grootte van het veld en de exacte locaties van de lichtmasten.

Bij het plannen van het project wordt een zogenaamd lichtplan gemaakt, hierin worden het aantal en het soort lampen bepaald en wordt er met behulp van een externe applicatie een zo even mogelijk lichtbeeld gemaakt van een bepaalde lichtsterkte om te zorgen dat de spelers geen last ondervinden bij wedstrijden of trainingen in het donker.

Al deze gegevens worden in een Excel bestand opgeslagen.
Het Excel bestand is door de jaren heen aangepast een uitgebreid in functionaliteiten.

Na het invoeren van al deze gegevens worden er aantal macro’s gebruikt om samen met bestaande data binnen de Excel berekeningen te doen die de gewenste gegevens genereren voor later in het proces.

Het doel van dit project is het maken van een nieuwe applicatie die de bestaande Excel in zijn geheel kan vervangen.
De applicatie moet voor de gebruiker het zelfde werkproces kunnen faciliteren maar dan sneller en simpeler, waardoor we efficiënter en beter opdrachten kunnen verwerken.
En voor nieuwe werknemers wordt het makkelijker om het proces te begrijpen en sneller aan de slag te kunnen.

Om te revalideren van een fysieke klacht wordt geadviseerd door een fysiotherapeut om revalidatie oefeningen te doen elke dag. Alleen deze oefeningen zijn saai, eentoning en uitdagend voor een patient, waardoor 76% hun therapie niet afmaken.

Om dit probleem op te lossen heeft InmotionVR CorpusVR ontwikkeld. CorpusVR is een VR applicatie dat bestaat uit serious games die met behulp van gamification, sensortechnieken en Virtual Reality patienten helpen revalideren in een leuke en motiverende manier. VR als therapeutische vorm is al door meerdere wetenschappelijke onderzoeken bewezen effectief te zijn in het vergroten van intrinsieke motivatie, het verminderen van pijn, en het verbeteren van de beweging. Voor fysieke klachten biedt CorpusVR games voor nek-, rug- en knieklachten, maar er wordt ook gewerkt aan de ontwikkeling van games voor armklachten.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage heb ik gewerkt aan een VR game prototype met als doelgroep patienten met een schouder musculoskeletal (MSK) klacht. Het doel van het prototype is om gebruikers op een leuke en motiverende manier vaker schouder revalidatie oefeningen laten doen die de schouderstabiliteit en mobiliteit verbeteren. In mijn prototype bevindt je op een boerderij met als doel om eitjes te verzamelen. De speler moet bepaalde taken doen voor de kippen om ze blij te maken zoals water geven of het juiste temperatuur instellen waardoor ze eieren gaan leggen.

ASML offers multiple wafer metrology and inspections systems. The HMI e-beam inspection system which uses electron beams to locate individual chip defects uses a multitude of sensors and actuators. When integrators are integrating these various systems with multiple sensors and actuators, various problems could occur within these systems. The root cause of these problems needs to be found to prevent any damage to occur. A solution for that is a diagnostics system that can 'sniff' or monitor data that is coming out of sensors or going into actuators for further analysis.

These sensors and actuators are placed on a functional I/O board. The current system can only monitor devices on one functional I/O board. The desired result is to create a system that can extract 'sniffed' data from multiple functional I/O boards. To accomplish this an intermediary diagnostics board is placed in the current system. This diagnostics board is able to communicate with multiple functional I/O boards to remove the limitation of 'sniffing' devices from only one I/O board.

The ‘sniffed’ data is currently stored on external memory on the I/O board, however it is not a guarantee that a I/O board has external memory. External memory will be placed on the intermediary diagnostics board to mitigate this limitation. The memory will be partitioned in blocks to facilitate data from multiple I/O boards.

The final goal of this project is to create a prototype system described in the previous paragraphs which later developers can improve on. This means that a new system for the diagnostics board is created, and the I/O board system will be revised. A new protocol is implemented to facilitate the new systems. The end result will mean an increase of coverability of available sensors/actuators to 'sniff' for the end users.

Elderly individuals often experience a shortage of both active and passive care, especially in the context of a growing loneliness problem, as emphasized by the Dutch government. The goal of the project is to develop a proof-of-concept software application that encourages conversations and activities among elderly individuals in (informal) care based on sentiment analysis.

The chatbot serves as a virtual companion, engaging in conversations and recommending activities based on the detected sentiment. The aim is to reduce the feeling of loneliness and provide valuable insights to care workers to detect loneliness and depression early on.

The web application includes a simple user interface and an administrator environment with authorization functions. A central 'character' in the application facilitates conversations and activities, analyzing the user's sentiment. The result is a friendly companion for residents and essential health and well-being information for care workers.

The main question focuses on the use of the speechbot by care workers to identify loneliness and depression in elderly individuals with limited affinity for technological tools. Sub-questions cover topics such as Large Language Models, Speech-Text-Speech functionality, sentiment analysis, required system functions, and privacy constraints.

The project offers an innovative solution to enhance the well-being of elderly individuals in care, using technology to reduce loneliness and provide care workers with valuable insights with minimal additional efforts.

This project continues the "Prosthetic arm" project at Alten Group. It involves developing a robot hand that mimics human hand movements using motors and sensors. The current aim is to use sensor data to achieve a smooth and natural grip, which is essential in medical care robotics.

Currently, the Netherlands and many other developed nations worldwide are facing the very real problem of diminishing birthrates and a substantially larger population that will hit retirement homes in the coming years. If we want to properly facilitate everybody in retirement in the future, a substantial part of the working population would need to start working in the care industry, which likely won't be possible.

Because of this, I wanted to contribute to the existing prosthetic arm project at Alten and expand on it to achieve motion mimicking that of a human. This or a derivative of this project could be used with future medical robots to allow a human hand model to grasp and move objects for patients in a recognizable way. This implementation will mostly be related to the sensor and actuator interaction, and adding additional sensors to the existing hand.
In my graduation presentation, I would like to demonstrate what I have been able to achieve in this project and articulate my portfolio.

De aanpak omvat een grondige analyse van bestaande competenties, het identificeren van knelpunten, interne processen, bedrijfscultuur en het vaststellen van de verwachtingen van de business analisten en diverse relevante stakeholders. Ook worden relevante interne systemen geanalyseerd die betrekking hebben tot het detacheringsproces om de inzetbaarheid te vergroten van de business analyst bij de klanten van sogeti in lowcode projecten.

Het ontwikkelde framework fungeert als een uitgebreide handleiding voor business analisten die inzicht willen verkrijgen in hoe ze effectief kunnen bijdragen aan low-code projecten. Hierin zijn best practices geïntegreerd, en er is een applicatie ontwikkeld die is getoetst aan het framework. Dit stelt de business analisten in staat om specifiek inzicht te krijgen in hoe ze hun vaardigheden en competenties kunnen benutten in een low-code project.

Compounded by a heavy reliance on only two experts in MicroStrategy, both facing limited availability and the imminent possibility of retirement, the organization is confronted with the risk of losing vital expertise.

With a vast repository of over 500 reports, Welkoop's BI environment is burdened by duplications, and the intricacies of MicroStrategy pose challenges in manipulating and expanding the report landscape. The primary objective of this thesis is to conduct an in-depth analysis of Welkoop's existing reports. This analysis aims to uncover crucial insights into the quality, metrics, and value of each report, along with identifying their respective data sources. The ultimate goal is to streamline the existing reporting framework, enhancing its efficiency and reducing the number of reports.

In de praktijk gebruiken veel applicaties RESTful API’s voor communicatie tussen de client en de server. In de steeds grotere schaal waarin Quintor haar klanten helpt met het bouwen van high performance applicaties moet onderzoek gedaan worden naar gRPC. Tijdens dit onderzoek heb ik uitgezocht hoe gRPC zich verhoudt ten opzichte van REST kijkend naar onder andere performance, framework ondersteuning en gebruiksvriendelijkheid.

Tijdens mijn stage bij Quintor B.V. heb ik mij gericht op de prestatieverbeteringen die haalbaar zijn door het toepassen van gRPC in complexe en gedistribueerde systemen. Het doel van dit project is om kennis op te doen over gRPC zodat Quintor en haar klanten hier gebruik van kunnen maken. Om dit te bereiken heb ik eerst gRPC vergeleken met REST en daarna onderzocht in welke situaties dit toegepast kan worden. Een belangrijke groep stakeholders zijn de mede-software ontwikkelaars bij Quintor.

Op basis van deze analyse heb ik een aantal verschillende use-cases van gRPC uitgezocht en uitgewerkt in een proof of concept die representatief is voor recente projecten van Quintor.

Een belangrijk voordeel van deze implementatie is dat het inzicht biedt in het werkingsprincipe van gRPC zodat de ontwikkelaars van Quintor dit in de lopende en toekomstige projecten efficiënt kunnen inzetten.

In deze presentatie neem ik jullie mee in het onderzoek naar gRPC en krijgen jullie een demo te zien van een implementatie van gRPC als uitbreiding op een bestaande softwaretoepassing.

Hierbij is UX onderzoek gedaan en een nieuwe basis van de UI neergelegd in de vorm van een interactief prototype, waarbij de bestaande functionaliteiten zijn behouden in een vereenvoudige customer journey.

In het nieuwe ontwerp is rekening gehouden met UX standaarden en zijn de huidige gebruikers nauw betrokken in het ontwerp proces, met als resultaat een gebruiksvriendelijk(ere) rapporten generator.

Please join me in my presentation where we will uncover the current inefficiencies plaguing current UAT coordination processes and methods. In this presentation, I will highlight the necessity of enhancements to the task of UAT coordination and how these enhancements fit into the context of the evolving landscape of UAT coordination. Additionally, I will provide a comprehensive analysis of the impact of the current inefficiencies on the efficiency and accuracy of current UAT deliverables. I will then transition from analyzing the current inefficiencies towards the possibilities for improvement. Delving deeper into these possibilities, I will present potential strategies aimed at addressing the limitations. Using these possibilities for improvement, I will then present an exploration of the possible solutions after which I will present the features of the final product as well as its advantages and disadvantages. This product not only automates manual UAT processes but also ensures compliance by standardizing the way of working and integrating with current systems.
In this presentation, we will embark on a journey from conceptualization to the creation of a robust, user-friendly, and future-proof UAT coordination framework, highlighting its pivotal role in amplifying efficiency and accuracy within Philips IGTD.

In my graduation project at Achmea N.V., I conducted applied research on the IT initiative to transition the company towards a more data-driven approach, specifically within Achmea Pension Services. The project's core result was the development and implementation of a Power BI dashboard, designed to optimize previously manual, repetitive, and time-consuming reporting processes.
The challenge involved transforming the way monthly management and daily operational reports were generated - a task traditionally done by manual data handling with Excel and processing from multiple email sources. My solution was a Power BI dashboard, which not only automated these reports reducing the daily time required from an hour to a few minutes, but also enhanced them with additional insights, such as employee performance metrics and service level agreement validations.
The process consisted of several critical steps: establishing a SharePoint data storage environment, integrating with Power BI, designing a data model based on the star schema, executing ETL processes for data cleaning, and creating measured fields. Furthermore, I tailored the dashboard's design to align with Achmea's branding colors, established the Power BI Service environment so that different users have access to the dashboard, and created a user manual for future maintenance and updates. The project ended with advise on how this data-driven approach could be generalized across Achmea’s different sectors, demonstrating its effectiveness of showing the return of invest of such a data-driven IT solution.

Their website is a container based platform running on Kubernetes where the infrastructure and management of it is outsourced to another company. The outsourcing of the management of the infrastructure has led to challenges on both communication and technical level.
For my graduation internship I was assigned with a project of researching and designing a new cloud infrastructure. The former infrastructure has certain points of improvement, therefore it was required to investigate the current system and research new possible infrastructure solutions on cloud. Some points of improvement include: insufficient monitoring, not auto-scalable pods, and unnecessary complex network rules. The focus of the research was to find out how to solve those problems and build a new auto-scalable, manageable and easily maintainable infrastructure on cloud with good practices in mind.

Most importantly, these schemes have impacted the industry unfairly as it raised the baseline monthly premium of innocent customers. At my talk, we will delve into these issues and more with solutions that embrace AI along with human intervention and respected regulation to ensure reduction of fraud, and improve fairness in policy premiums for customers.

During my graduation internship at Fontys University of Applied Sciences, as a member of the Flower Power team, I investigated the availability and capabilities of existing image annotation solutions. In collaboration with the developers of ARISE, a biodiversity monitoring platform developed and maintained by Naturalis, we developed a configurable integration framework to allow their platform to make use of these existing annotation platforms to give their platform more functionality.

Our solution is the first of it’s kind and allows platforms similar to ARISE to more efficiently annotate and validate the image datasets within their system, optimizing their annotation workflow using automation strategies. The two biggest benefits that users of our system will have, are the ability to annotate data without having to manually import, export or convert data for a specific platform, as well as allowing support for multiple different platforms at once without the need to rewrite the solution. A functional version of our solution is available in the ARISE platform when Naturalis releases it to the public.

Hardware Interfacing Video Wall Demonstrator

The goal of the project is to develop a graphics processing pipeline for Topic’s video processing and multiplexing platform. The project is intended to be used in future projects where low-latency video processing is needed. An example use-case for this is to use it in a flight simulator for combat jets. A learning pilot must show good reflexes. If an event occurs, the system must have low-latency to simulate realistic scenarios. The current project serves as a showcase to customers to display our knowledge and experience with graphics processing.

The video processing platform consists of a carrier board with HDMI in/outputs, with the Miami SoM (System on Module). The Miami has a Zynq SoC (System on Chip) with an ARM CPU and FPGA fabric.
The CPU is intended to run Linux and should be used to configure and maintain the system. The FPGA part is intended for the real-time video processing.

My part of the assignment will be to develop a configurable video processing pipeline. I will think of some application(s) to implement on the Video Wall to show that my pipeline is working (e.g. upscaling 720p to 1080p). The pipeline must accept incoming video data, process it in some arbitrary way and then pass it on to the HDMI converter. The processing pipeline must introduce minimal delay into the video being processed. All data intensive applications must also be done in the FPGA fabric, as to eliminate software delay and speed up processing.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage heb ik Kusters Scholing en Training geholpen met het verbeteren van de communicatie met (potentiële) cursisten en het optimaliseren van hun informatievoorziening. Het beter stroomlijnen van deze aspecten was essentieel, aangezien er zowel intern binnen het team als in de communicatie met cursisten onduidelijkheden waren. Om dit te verbeteren, is een digitaal cursistenbeheersysteem ontworpen en gerealiseerd, ter vervanging van hun bestaande Excel-gebaseerde werkwijze.

Dit project heb ik uitgevoerd vanuit LR Internet, online partner van Kusters, die onder andere hun website heeft verzorgd. Met beide partijen is nauw samengewerkt om een oplossing te ontwikkelen die niet alleen voldoet aan de behoeften van Kusters, maar ook op een toekomstbestendige manier onderhouden kan worden door LR Internet.

Het resultaat van deze samenwerking is een systeem dat de interne processen van Kusters vereenvoudigt en de communicatiestromen met hun cursisten verduidelijkt.

This conversion process handles all the source files, project dependencies, project types (applications, static/dynamic libraries, test projects), and custom build steps. By automating the conversion process, the script saves time that would have been spent manually creating CMake files. It also minimizes errors by reducing manual effort and ensuring consistency across all converted projects. Additionally, the converted Visual Studio projects can now be used in different compilers or different compiler versions as one of the benefits of CMake.

Deze ervaringen noemen zij ‘phygital’, een mix van fysieke en technische elementen zoals beeldschermen, lichten en geluid. Deze oplossingen worden bedacht, gemaakt en geïnstalleerd door verschillende teams en disciplines zoals content creation, installation en natuurlijk programming. Zij hebben de afgelopen 26 jaar verschillende grote namen voorzien van hun eigen phygital experiences zoals Rituals, Our House en Basic Fit.

Tegenwoordig wordt data voor First Impression en haar klanten steeds belangrijker. Zo wil First de markt voorblijven onder anderen door middel van data integratie. Ook vragen klanten steeds vaker om data driven oplossingen. En voorbeeld hiervan is het geautomatiseerd tonen van zonnebrand op de schermen wanneer het zonnig is, en kaarsen wanneer het bewolkt is. Daarom worden op dit moment de standaard data driven oplossingen gestandaardiseerd.

Deze standaard data driven oplossingen noemen we widgets. Dit zijn content items waarop data getoond wordt van het weer, verkeer, nieuws en social media van de klant. In dit afstudeerproject wordt er een tool ontworpen en gemaakt die de designers in staat stelt om zonder tussenkomst van programming zo’n widget te realiseren: een widget editor.

Het eerste deel van het onderzoek bestaat uit het ophalen van de behoeftes van de gebruikers en het bedrijf. Op basis hiervan is een design specification voor de editor gemaakt. Van deze editor is een werkend prototype gerealiseerd door middel van Vue.js.

The Azurion X-Ray scanners generate huge amounts of data every day. This data contains information like the user actions and error logs. This information can be used to analyze how a system is used by Philips’ customers and to investigate and solve possible errors that may occur.

Many developers at Philips feel somewhat detached from the real world in which the Azurion systems are used. To create more awareness of the fact that Philips’s systems are used intensively in hospitals every day and that the systems occasionally run into errors, Philips would like to create a real-time dashboard of “current system usage”.

This dashboard should show relevant information from the large amount of data available in an understandable way.

This dashboard should combine elements of sharing information and elements of coolness and pride. The goal is to show it on a large screen in the coffee area, so that it will be seen by the people every day.

Deze ontdekkingen worden zorgvuldig gedocumenteerd in het eindrapport.

During my internship at Defenced I took a deep dive in the world of deception technology. Defenced is company situated in Eindhoven that focusses on different fields in Cyber security. Their biggest service is the monitoring of customers using their SOC (security operation center) platform. Deception technology also called active defense is a name for honeypots and honeytokens. I started with an comprehensive comparison of honeypots and honeytokens to see which one was the most suitable for Defenced. Research proved that the honeytokens are more suitable for the situation. After that I decided to focus completely on the honey tokens. I continued the research looking for promising honey token solutions to implement in the Defenced network. The requirements where that the solutions needed to be free and open source. They also needed to have the ability to forward the data to our XDR-platform. The goal was to see if honey tokens could help Defenced by getting visibility at customer sites. At some customers sites there are some blind spots and Defenced was hoping to gain visibility in these spots by using lightweight honeytokens. During my internship I did some interviews to determine the placement of the honey tokens. After research I have implemented and created five use cases that later can be deployed within customers networks. I have created a step by step guide on how to setup these tokens. To generate alert from the raw data I have setup automation rules. These automation rules generate alerts when the raw data matches the query that is included in the automation rule.

Therefore, I ended up naming this project TIRTO (Threat Intelligence and Red Team Operations), which will also be the name of my framework. TIRTO is an integrated framework that consolidates and improves on existing red teaming standards. Through the use of the most recent threat intelligence and techniques, it offers an in-depth approach for evaluating and mitigating security risks, empowering enterprises to proactively discover weaknesses and strengthen their cybersecurity defenses.

Throughout this project, I employed the design thinking methodology. Progressing through various phases, I iterated to create the final versions of high-fidelity prototypes using Figma.

At Improvive, I expanded on the existing prototype of a Virtual Human by improving its capabilities, fulfilling the goal of increased believability in its verbal and non-verbal interactions with the user. A big part of my responsibilities was researching, validating and integrating available solutions for the three core sub-systems of the application: Speech To Text, Large Language Model, and Text To Speech.

Another aspect of my internship was supporting the game designers by implementing a separate application with its own system and user interface to facilitate an intuitive way to create scenarios, which are then used to define the behavior of the Virtual Human. This scenario application is designed to handle more complex use cases such as job interview training, learning, storytelling, and many others.

Finally, I implemented a “virtual coach” that provides feedback to the users on the current conversation.

During my graduation internship at Dual Inventive, I was fortunate enough to assist in assessing and steering the development of their upcoming Train Warning System (TWS) — a system meant to ensure the safety of people working on the railways by warning them of incoming trains. This includes personnel performing rail maintenance, but also repair or cleaning crews, for example.

The primary challenge was the interpretation of the signal data produced by the TWS (mainly from inclinometers, ultrasonic, and voltage sensors), for which several data-driven approaches were explored. This included in-depth data analysis, incorporating open data for validation, and real-time data processing.

Given the elevated importance of consistency and precision within safety systems, priority was placed on identifying, detecting, and minimizing anomalies — signal behavior which, in the context of the existing system, could not be explained.

Overall, significant progress was made in determining the viability of the current TWS implementation. This included answering safety-critical questions regarding data behavior, quantifying the performance and accuracy of detections, establishing an improved data-monitoring environment, and providing advice on which direction to steer future testing and development surrounding the TWS.

Panik Button biedt een uniek platform dat binnen een uur bedrijfscontinuïteit garandeert bij ransomware-aanvallen, waarmee het een nieuwe standaard zet in de sector. Dit project, van cruciaal belang in het tijdperk van toenemende cyberdreigingen, is gericht op het creëren van een betrouwbare en veilige omgeving waarin klanten hun bedrijfsvoering na een cyberaanval kunnen voortzetten met behulp van deze virtuele desktops. BDO voert zowel wettelijk verplichte als vrijwillige jaarrekeningcontroles uit, waarbij gerapporteerd wordt in de controleverklaring. Het doel hierbij is om (hoge mate van) zekerheid te verschaffen aan de lezers van de jaarrekening dat een getrouw beeld wordt weergegeven en dus geen sprake is van materiele fouten. Randvoorwaardelijk aan de financiële audit in het kader van de jaarrekeningcontrole is het toetsen van de IT General Controls (ITGC) in het kader van de (automatische) gegevensverwerking. Zo wordt data van verschillende software pakketten geanalyseerd om te concluderen hoe betrouwbaar de gegevens zijn van de jaarrekening controle.

Het doel van het project is om een methode te ontwikkelen om (een deel) van de IT audit werkzaamheden te automatiseren, zodat BDO efficiënter kan werken en een grotere steekproefomvang kan controleren voor accuratere resultaten. Hiervoor wordt eerst gekeken naar wat er al geautomatiseerd is, waar de kansen liggen en welke technologische ontwikkelingen toegepast kunnen worden voor het automatisering. Author-e is a collaborative authoring tool that allows users to create, share and organize documents with features like easy editing and reuse of content across documents, as well as a fully traceable document history.

One possible use of Author-e is for test creation, with the option to upload tests to a learning management system to save learners' responses and scores. However the options currently available in Author-e are quite limited, only offering multiple-choice and text interactions for questions. This limitation poses a challenge for teachers in designing engaging tests for their students. Consequently, Author-e aims to introduce new question interactions to better meet users' needs.

For my project, I researched what types of questions would be the most helpful for Author-e. Based on that, I worked on designing and developing three new question types: matching, ordering, and hotspot, along with the editors that would be used to add these questions to tests. These new options should make tests more engaging for students and give teachers more flexibility.

Hierdoor kan Quintor nieuwe inzichten verkrijgen in het ontwikkelproces, wat resulteert in gestructureerde dashboards met diepgaande analyses van projectprestaties. De implementatie van een formuletaal binnen de computational engine maakt complexe berekeningen mogelijk, wat leidt tot zinvolle Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) die dynamisch worden weergegeven op het dashboard. Er is onderzocht in hoeverre AI kan worden ingezet ter ondersteuning van WhiteHat-medewerkers bij het uitvoeren van beveiligingsonderzoeken voor klanten. Allereerst zijn er verschillende implementaties verkend, waarbij er d.m.v. proof-of-concepts, een reeks potentiele oplossingen zijn gepresenteerd bij medewekers van WhiteHats. Daarna is onderzocht welke van de volgende vormen de meeste voorkeur heeft:

1. Automatisch adviezen genereren
2. Interactief Source-code bevragen
3. Bevinding + documentatie specifiek Q&A
4. Automatisch gegeneerde component-tests

Uit dit onderzoek bleek dat de voorkeur lag bij het ontwikkelen van een functionaliteit binnen een interne applicatie van WhiteHats, om automatisch adviezen te genereren. Vervolgens is er een oplossing ontwikkeld die het mogelijk maakt om met een bevinding (van een vulnerability) en relevante documentatie, automatish een advies te genereren. Dit is gedaan doormiddel van bestaande technieken en technologien (Cosine Simularity en OpenAI). Uiteindelijk is er onderzoek gedaan naar de mogelijkheden om een lokaal model te gebruiken voor deze implementatie i.p.v. het gebruik van OpenAI.

Their devices have 4G cloud connection, which is not always sable. My job was to add mesh like functionality these devices. I have designed and implemented an Ad Hoc network protocol. This protocol is based on Low Power Wide Area Network wireless protocol LoRa. Whenever a device is losing its 4G connection, it can request another adjacent device to help it. In that case the neighboring device node turns itself into a switch and redirect the data from another node to the cloud. This solution allows the safety depended gear to keep running.

In dit plan wordt ook beschreven hoe de klant dit kan integreren binnen hun IT-architectuur, privacyrichtlijnen en governance. Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage heb ik een online Scrum poker inschattingstool ontwikkeld om aan deze vraag te voldoen. Deze tool is bedoeld om het inschatten van user stories te faciliteren tijdens sprint planningen.

Vergeleken met bestaande inschattingstools, vereist Estimation Ninjas geen reclames of account registratie. Verder onderscheid Estimation Ninjas zich met gesprekstarter kaarten. Deze kaarten besteden aandacht aan lange termijn zaken zoals de manier waarop software wordt geïmplementeerd. Verder is het belangrijk dat iedereen durft te zeggen waar het op staat, ook als die boodschap niet per se de gewenste is. Deze grote betrokkenheid leidt vaak tot een efficiëntere en voordeligere oplossing voor de klant. Gespreksstarters kunnen werken als “advocaat van de duivel”. Het kan het “kuddegevoel” waarbij iedereen meegaat met de suggestie van een collega verlagen.

Hierdoor stond er een applicatie die niet voldeed aan deze wensen. Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage heb ik mezelf verdiept in de doelgroep, ben ik erachter gekomen wat de doelgroep nodig heeft om de tool op een juiste wijze te kunnen gebruiken, heb ik deze onderdelen uitgewerkt in een vernieuwd design en heb ik een advies geschreven voor het toepassen van deze designs in de huidige applicatie. The core objective was to advance the detection of prohibited items within parcels using cutting-edge imaging techniques. To this end, I generated a synthetic dataset that emulates the characteristics of neutron and X-ray imaging, two modalities renowned for their penetrative ability to reveal concealed objects.

The initiative explored the integration of these two distinct imaging methods to create a fused dataset. Neutron imaging, with its unique ability to differentiate materials based on their atomic structure, complements X-ray imaging which excels in delineating shapes and densities. The fusion is designed to retain critical information from both modalities, aiming to enhance feature recognition and improve the accuracy of object detection algorithms.

A central part of the internship involved the development and training of a deep learning model tailored to identify illicit items within parcels, leveraging the synthesized cross-modal dataset.

This research is a stepping stone towards harnessing the potential of neutron imaging in the security domain. By systematically combining it with X-ray imaging, we aim to establish a more robust and reliable object detection system. The learnings from this project have implications not only for contraband detection but also for broader applications where material identification is crucial, thereby contributing to the enhancement of security measures and protocols.

The outcome of this endeavor has the potential to revolutionize the field by setting a precedent for the use of hybrid imaging technologies in security and beyond, ensuring safer transit of goods across borders.

Deze tool is geschreven in PHP maakt gebruik van Symfony, Doctrine, RabbitMQ, en MariaDB. De tool biedt de mogelijkheid tot het automatisch genereren van unit tests, comments en functionele tests. Voor de generatie van hierboven genoemde onderdelen wordt gebruik gemaakt van ChatGPT. De implementatie van semantic logging en een Elastic Search database dragen bij aan het creëren van een gestroomlijnde en efficiënte ontwikkelingsomgeving die maakt dat het systeem makkelijker te managen en te onderhouden is.

Door deze tool te integreren in het ontwikkelingsproces van Indicia, streef ik ernaar om de kwaliteit van de software te verhogen, kosten te verminderen en de ontwikkeltijd te verkorten. De tool is ontworpen met uitbreidbaarheid en overdraagbaarheid in gedachten, waardoor Indicia flexibel kan schakelen tussen verschillende technologieën. Dit zorgt ervoor dat het bedrijf niet gebonden is aan specifieke technische keuzes en toekomstbestendig blijft.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage heb ik de volgende onderzoeksvraag beantwoord:

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Bistroo heb ik me beziggehouden met het verbeteren van de gebruikservaring van het zelfonboardingproces. Om dit te realiseren, heb ik verschillende onderzoeken uitgevoerd om waardevolle inzichten te verzamelen. Op basis van deze inzichten heb ik vervolgens een proof of concept ontwikkeld voor een onboardingstool.

Deze tool fungeert als een hulpmiddel voor de doelgroep om het systeem beter te begrijpen. Het zorgt voor een gestroomlijnd en probleemloos onboardingproces, waarbij de gebruikers op een intuïtieve manier door de verschillende stappen worden geleid. Hierbij heb ik specifiek gekeken naar de behoeften en verwachtingen van de gebruikers, zodat de tool perfect aansluit op hun wensen.

Daarnaast heb ik ook advies gegeven over andere aspecten van het onboardingproces. Hierbij heb ik mij gericht op het optimaliseren van de communicatie, het verstrekken van duidelijke instructies en het aanbieden van ondersteuning voor eventuele obstakels die gebruikers kunnen tegenkomen tijdens het onboardingtraject.

Mijn onderzoeksproject, uitgevoerd bij Tilburg University en geïmplementeerd in het geavanceerde DAF Technology Lab op de campus, vertegenwoordigt een doorbraak in het veld van leiderschapsontwikkeling. Het project, genaamd POLAR (Program for Outstanding Leadership and Advanced Reasoning), gebruikt de geavanceerde Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE) omgeving van het lab om een meeslepende simulatie te creëren.

POLAR is gesitueerd in een toekomstige setting waar wetenschappers op de Zuidpool werken aan essentiële klimaatstudies. De simulatie dompelt de deelnemers onder in een veeleisende omgeving waar kritisch denken, creativiteit in probleemoplossing en innovatieve besluitvorming cruciaal zijn. De simulatie omvat intellectuele uitdagingen, met een nadruk op samenwerking, strategische planning en duurzame leiderschapspraktijken.

Dit project biedt een interactieve en meeslepende ervaring, waarbij deelnemers uiteenlopende rollen op zich nemen, variërend van teamleider tot drone-operator en geospatiaal analist. De combinatie van de CAVE-omgeving met realistische visuals en surroundsound resulteert in een buitengewone immersieve ervaring.

Het primaire doel van POLAR is het ontwikkelen van vaardigheden zoals kritisch denken, samenwerking en adaptief leiderschap. Dit maakt het project relevant voor een breed scala aan professionals en studenten, van wetenschap en technologie tot management en human resources.

Ik nodig je uit om de presentatie bij te wonen, waarbij er uitgebreid wordt ingegaan op het onderzoeksproces, van analyse tot development en validatie.

Firstly, users often unintentionally overwrite other users' changes (including campaigns, creatives, templates, or image assets), resulting in lost progress and frustration. Secondly, users frequently leave the page without saving their changes, leading to data loss and wasted efforts. These challenges obstruct productivity and degrade the overall user experience. During my internship, I will need to design and implement synchronization mechanisms into the existing system to enable real-time collaboration for the tool.

Within production printers, the central processor is connected to peripherals like UART, SPI and stepper motors using the Remote Bus. These peripherals are directly controlled by the processor by writing to and reading from memory registers. These requests travel through the Remote Bus.

The bus is approaching its maximum capacity. This means that connecting more peripherals or interacting with them more will soon cause issues for the functionality of the printer. This is caused by the amount of busload each peripheral controller introduces. To reduce busload introduced per peripheral, the number of requests passing the Remote Bus must be reduced. This also reduces the amount of time the processor must busy-wait for the requests to pass.

Think of it as requests being cars entering the highway. When the size of the highway stays the same, rush-hour means a lot of delays for everyone. The number of cars entering the highway can be reduced by offering people that normally drive separate cars to use busses or carpool. This lowers the experienced delays and leaves more margin on the highway for more people to pass in the future.

During my internship at Bosch Building Technologies - Video Systems I improved the process of managing technical information about their camera firmware and creating technical specification documents based on it.

Where their old process required a lot of manual effort by the maintainer of the "Bicom" data to review and implement change requests to the data and had them manually updating Excel table references in a Word document, the improved process used automation and extensive validation to ensure security and a reduced time investment required.

In the old process, there were many opportunities for human error to cause confidential information to make it into a version of the specification document meant for external distribution, which would be a major issue.

In the improved flow, the following features stand out:
-> Enabling change reviews through pull requests in the company's existing version control system for the Bicom data and specification templates
-> Automated validation of changes to the Bicom data
-> Automated generation of up-to-date Bicom specification documents based on the Bicom data
-> Greatly improved security of the handling of confidential Bicom data when creating the specification documents
-> Improving the user experience for editing the Bicom specification template
-> Improving the representation of Bicom data in the specification

There is no one-size-fits-all approach and the nature of the data being handled and the requirements of the software product determine the type of database that will best serve the product. For one project the best database may be one that grants advantages in security and reliability while for another it may be a matter of scalability and performance.
The project is a comparative analysis of the performance of certain databases. This comparison is an attempt to improve the response time of a property monitoring system as the company it belongs to, and thereby the data it processes, scales. Not being as simple as just plugging in a new database, the project also grapples with the implications of using different database models on the structure of the data, and the security and architecture of the system.

Er is een Proof of Concept gerealiseerd voor een specifieke business case. Deze kan gebruikt worden als basis om de kennis over deze integratie of connectie verder te ontwikkelen en te gebruiken in toekomstige projecten. Om de oplossing te realiseren is er een systeem gebouwd dat tussen Power Apps en xECM staat en communicatie verricht tussen beide systemen.

User Interaction Connecting students at the Innovation Lab

During my graduation internship at the Fontys Interaction Design Lectorate, I worked on designing and realizing a technical solution that aims to increase connectivity between students studying at the Fontys Strijp TQ building (InnovationLab).

The main problem that my project focuses on is the low levels of social interaction between students, especially students from different project groups who rarely connect with each other. Having more connections between students in the building is crucial for establishing a productive working and learning environment where students inspire and motivate one another.

The solution I designed is an interactive installation that would be positioned in a common area of the building. The installation uses body tracking to track users as they approach and projects their bodies as a character on screen. This enables an easy and natural way to interact with the installation using only body movements. The solution aims to attract users walking by to engage with it or to join others already interacting with it. The installation presents challenges that require collaboration between users to solve them. By encouraging playful collaboration, the installation intends to facilitate social connections between students.

My graduation internship was held at Alten Nederland, a software and embedded consultancy company. My project consisted of the development of a ground-up, full-stack embedded system of a smart chessboard, capable of accurately reading the position of every chess piece using NFC technology, and displaying information on the integrated RGB lighting system, built into every square of the board. Some major challenges of the design were the interference reduction between all 64 NFC antennas which were placed in close proximity, as well as ensuring that the board reacts to a change faster than the average human reaction time (250ms), in order to ensure a proper user experience. The lighting system is able to display available moves when the user picks up a piece or a heatmap of most advantageous moves, provided by an external chess engine.

Joanknecht is een Nederlands dynamische adviesorganisatie dat zich richt op het leveren van
financiële diensten en streeft naar het leveren van op maat gemaakte oplossingen die voldoen aan de specifieke behoeften van elke klant om ondersteuning te bieden bij het behalen van hun financiële en zakelijke doelstellingen.

Joanknecht wil de kans aangrijpen om de toepassing van Robotic Process Automation (RPA) als standaard dienstverlening aan haar klanten aan te kunnen bieden en zich positief te positioneren ten opzichte van concurrenten. Echter beschikt Joanknecht niet over de kennis en tijd om te onderzoeken waarom RPA geïmplementeerd zou moeten worden.

Om deze reden heeft het bedrijf het onderzoek uitgezet bij de student. De doelstelling van dit onderzoek is om Joanknecht te voorzien van een advies waarom team Integrated Finance RPA als standaard dienstverlening aan zou moeten bieden aan haar klanten. Het is hierbij belangrijk om te onderzoeken wanneer het wenselijk is om RPA in te zetten en welke vervolgstappen benodigd zijn. De hoofdvraag luidt daarbij als volgt: “Hoe kan Robotic Process Automation (RPA) bijdragen in het aanbieden van een aanvullende dienst?”.

Processen binnen het financiële proces Record to Report (R2R) komen veelal in aanmerking voor de verschillende toepassingen van RPA, omdat deze repetitief zijn en veel handmatige handelingen bevatten. Tijdens deze presentatie wordt het publiek meegenomen in de automatisering van het interne proces "Maandafsluiting". Een proof of concept wat dient als pilot voor Joanknecht om richting de klant te kunnen presenteren en daarover te adviseren.

BDO gebruikt Google Analytics 4 en Marketo om gebruikersinteracties en gegevens te verzamelen. Waarbij Google Analytics 4 gegevens verzameld op campagne niveau en Marketo op persoonsniveau.

Deze systemen plaatsen third-party cookies in de webbrowser van de bezoekers. Echter wil BDO transitioneren naar een andere methode, omdat third-party cookies mogelijk volgend jaar worden uitgefaseerd. Het is belangrijk voor BDO om een alternatief te hebben voordat het zover is. De data dat met deze methode wordt verzameld wordt namelijk door de Digital Marketings-afdeling gebruikt om kwalitatieve leads te genereren voor de sales afdeling van BDO.

Daarnaast wilt BDO beter inzicht krijgen in de persoonsgegevens dat via Marketo wordt verzameld. Marketo is een marketing automation platform van Adobe en verzameld veel persoonsgegevens. Echter heeft Marketo beperkte dashboard functionaliteiten en is het inzicht de data daardoor beperkt.

Eigen onderneming: Ander half jaar geleden zijn we begonnen met onze onderneming. Een simpel idee, maar de realisatie blijkt alles behalve dit. Het afgelopen half jaar is ter realisatie gekomen dat je 70 % bezig bent met werkzaamheden die niet direct te maken hebben met je concept. Waarbij 30% eigenlijk maar bezig bent met het ontwikkelen van in dit geval een product. Daarnaast ben ik constant bezig met verbeteringen, onderhandelingen met leveranciers, foto's maken, bestaande klanten onderhouden, social media, nieuwe klanten benaderen, product verbetering, veiligheid maatregelen, administratie en nog 20 andere taken. In combinatie met de dagelijkse takenpakket ben ik nu aan het afstuderen in mijn eigen bedrijf. Met de hoeveelheid tijd dat beschikbaar kan worden gemaakt ga ik komend half jaar onderzoeken hoe ik als ondernemer zelf de particuliere afzet kan verhogen.

Doel project : " Hoe kunnen we de online/ particuliere verkoop verhogen?"

Prop's Brewery : Voor nu ligt onze grootste uitdaging om deze dranken ook bij de consumenten te krijgen. In Limburg kunnen consumenten al volop genieten van onze drankjes hun favoriete plekje. Maar we willen dat de mensen thuis even goed mee kunnen genieten. Hiervoor zal onze particuliere markt moeten groeien, vooral in bekendheid en in "makkelijkheid" om aan onze dranken te komen /kopen. In de eerste fase van een bedrijf is het van groot belang om data te verzamelen, met name doelgroep, behoefte en huidig aanbod. Om ons product bij de gewenste doelgroep te krijgen en te houden, is het noodzakelijk om constant te evalueren. Wat vinden onze klanten van onze producten? Hoe vinden ze ons? Wat missen ze eventueel in ons aanbod? en hoe gemakkelijk is het om ons product te kopen? Dit is een proces dat constant wordt uitgevoerd door feedback te vragen en in gesprek te gaan met onze klanten. Nu willen we doormiddel van dit project kijken waar onze kansen liggen op gebied van particuliere verkoop.

In het volgend project wordt op verschillende manieren onderzocht hoe we onze bekendheid zo efficiënt mogelijk kunnen laten groeien.

Het gebruik van Unity is niet langer beperkt tot het maken van games, maar strekt zich ook uit tot visualisatie. Bij Sioux wordt Unity momenteel al gebruikt voor de visualisatie van digitale tweelingen. Het toont hardwarecomponenten in een animatie en laat zien hoe ze werken, maar er is geen manier om hardware te simuleren zoals in een echte hardware simulatie.

Daarom is er vanuit mij een onderzoek gestart om te kijken of Unity kan worden uitgebreid naar complexere simulaties. Om dit te doen zijn zowel een virtuele als een echte flipperkast gemaakt, samen met software die geen verschil zou moeten zien tussen apparaten. Daarnaast willen we weten of het fysische model van Unity vergelijkbaar is met de echte wereld en of het echte hardwarecomponenten kan simuleren.

Thermo Fisher provides many types of electron microscopes. A few microscopes that Thermo Fisher sells are Phenom Pro X, Phenom Pharos, Phenom XL, and The Axia which are Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The Phenom microscopes are all desktop microscopes built with a very user-friendly UI (User Interface) that enables the customer to use them very easily. Each Phenom SEM is similar but has slight changes such as the sample tray size or source, that give the clients the possibility to choose the right microscope for the job. Besides, there are also Software engineers that can adapt the UI to ensure that the Phenoms fits the needs of the clients. Having all the possibilities of a “floor model” SEM in a desktop instrument already makes the Phenom a robust instrument.
Even though the Phenom Desktops are built very user friendly it is certainly possible that it will break anyway. Currently, the Phenom can give basic warnings based on fixed parameters such as in 1500 hours the oil in the vacuum pomp must be changed. But it is also possible that the quality of performance is decreasing, and the customer only finds out after a few sessions that the Phenom is no longer in good condition or that the Phenom break down unexpectedly. So, unfortunately, the Phenom Desktop SEM cannot predict all issues to warn the client that the microscope needs service soon.
This project is therefore aimed at investigating whether it is possible to predict malfunctions, to later on improve the user experience by enabling the user to plan preventive maintenance based on the predicted malfunction.

This project aims to make tools that will eases the work of a journalist.

Right now, the goal is to integrate the tools into one 'platform.' This platform will let journalists use existing tools and new ones could easily be added, The platform will take care of everything in one place. It's like combining all the tools into a single, easy-to-manage system.

In short, the project is trying to solve a few problems in journalism. They want to help journalists understand AI more, give them tools that work well together, and make a system that's simple to use, keep up, and add more things to.

This means making sure journalists don't have a hard time using AI, the tools aren't all over the place, and the system stays working and can get better even after the students who started it are done. It is a successful project if it can be used by others, stays working, and can be improved later on.

Dit betekent dat er een formulierenmodule is ontwikkeld die te gebruiken is bij meerdere CMS oplossingen. Het is dus van belang dat er gemakkelijk ondersteuning kan worden geboden voor een nieuwe CMS.

Headless (API-gedreven) content managementsystemen zijn enorm populair en Iquality gebruikt deze systemen in steeds grotere mate. Regelmatig is er de behoefte om formulieren te kunnen beheren in zo’n CMS. De formulierenmodule moet ervoor zorgen dat content managers zelf een formulier kunnen samenstellen en beheren binnen de CMS. Vervolgens moet de ontwikkelaar met deze module het formulier kunnen weergeven op een ReactJS front-end.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Prof-it4all heb ik onderzoek gedaan naar de mogelijkheden om de data in de ticketsystemen van klanten om te zetten naar waardevolle informatie waarop gestuurd kan worden. Prof-it4all is een consultancybedrijf dat onder andere functioneel applicatiebeheer als service aanbiedt. Elke klant beschikt over een eigen Topdesk-omgeving, waarin tickets kunnen worden ingediend. Dit betekent dat de data uit verschillende systemen moet worden verzameld en samengebracht tot een dataset.

Tijdens het onderzoek is gekeken naar de mogelijkheden om deze data te vertalen naar waardevolle informatie met behulp van een Power BI dashboard, waardoor het mogelijk wordt om de gegevens effectief te presenteren en te analyseren. Dit stelt Prof-it4all in staat om de verzamelde informatie op een gestructureerde en inzichtelijke manier te gebruiken voor verdere besluitvorming en optimalisatie van de dienstverlening.

This feature consists of reversing the carnot cycle in the heat pump and removing heat from the house, rather than into the house. The primary objective is to provide an effortless and intuitive way for users to access and present their cloud-stored content directly on CTOUCH screens.

The implementation of this solution involved the development of two distinct clients on different platforms. The first is an Android client, specifically tailored for the CTOUCH screen interface. This client enables direct interaction with the smart screen, providing a user-friendly experience for managing and displaying content. The second component is a React client developed for the myctouch.eu environment. This web-based interface serves as a central point for users to log in, manage their cloud services, and link them with their CTOUCH account.

A crucial part of this project was the development of a node.js WebSocket server. This server acts as the communication backbone, facilitating real-time data transfer and interaction between the clients and the cloud services. Additionally, an Asp.NET back-end was developed to handle server-side operations, including user authentication and integration with external APIs like Google Drive and OneDrive.

This project demonstrates a multi-faceted approach to integrating different technologies and platforms. It aims to simplify and improve the way users interact with cloud services like Google Drive and OneDrive on CTOUCH smart screens. The project's focus was on practical functionality, aiming to create a great user experience in accessing and presenting cloud-stored content on interactive smart screens.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Actemium heb ik gewerkt aan het optimaliseren van de DataNotifier-module, een interne module die als bouwsteen dient voor diverse klantprojecten. Actemium, gespecialiseerd in industriële automatisering, maakt gebruik van de DataNotifier-module om real-time communicatie tussen verschillende systemen en componenten in automatiseringsinstallaties mogelijk te maken. De module is oorspronkelijk ongeveer 10 jaar geleden ontwikkeld door een stagiair met als doel de databasebelasting te verminderen. In de loop der jaren heeft het echter een bredere toepassing gekregen en wordt het nu ingezet voor de communicatie van allerlei soorten gegevens, zoals locatie-updates van verplaatste producten. Gedurende de jaren zijn er echter enkele problemen ontdekt met de module, waaronder een gebrek aan monitoring, geen berichtenbehoud en slecht onderhoudbare code. Het doel van mijn project is om de DataNotifier-module te optimaliseren om de stabiliteit te verhogen, de onderhoudbaarheid te verbeteren en real-time prestatie monitoring toe te voegen. Tijdens dit project heb ik uitgebreid onderzoek gedaan naar de problemen van de DataNotifier, eisen van verschillende stakeholders, de huidige oplossing en mogelijke alternatieven. Vervolgens moest een afweging worden gemaakt tussen het integreren van een bestaande oplossing of het doorontwikkelen van het huidige product. Het eindproduct dat volgt uit dit project is een oplossing die de problemen van de huidige DataNotifier oplost en toekomstige ontwikkelingen bevordert.

Smart Photonics is a Dutch start-up specializing in the production of photonic integrated circuits utilizing Indium Phosphide (InP) technology. Currently, Smart Photonics is in the midst of transitioning from laboratory-scale production to a full-fledged manufacturing facility (Lab to Fab). However, a significant challenge lies in scaling up the visual inspection of the chips before delivering to their clients. Presently, this inspection relies on manual labor, making it a laborious, time-consuming, and error-prone process. To bridge this gap before investing in a sophisticated automated visual inspection system, Smart Photonics has initiated a project to explore the automation of visual inspection using their in-house systems, with AI emerging as a promising solution. Our goal for this project is to automate the anomaly detection using AI. This will help us to scale and improve quality of chips delivered. To classify defect and healthy chips, we're developing a deep learning model (Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)) which will be able to to classify defect and healthy chips with a decent accuracy. The idea is not necessarily to substitute the experts in the quality room, rather help them to speed up their process while maintaining high quality chips.

Hotraco houdt zich bezig met automatiseringssystemen voor onder andere de veehouderij. Een Cloud systeem ondersteunt dit automatiseringssysteem wat data verzameld en kan tonen in grafieken om inzicht te leveren in de veehouderij. Deze data kan ook gedeeld worden aan derde partijen die hier uitgebreide dashboards van maken.

Voorheen was nog niet duidelijk hoeveel klanten dit Cloud systeem zou kunnen ondersteunen. Hier is onderzoek naar gedaan door middel van load en stress tests. Het Cloud platform werd nog opgezet door middel van Docker Compose wat geen scaling ondersteunt om in de toekomst meer klanten te kunnen ondersteunen.

De wens van Hotraco is om het Cloud platform op een self hosted Kubernetes cluster te draaien en te autoscalen. Hiervoor is de Docker Compose gemigreerd naar een Kubernetes cluster met één Master Node en twee Worker Nodes voor High Availability en autoscaling over Worker Nodes in een productie omgeving.

During my graduation internship at Tidal Control, I was tasked with the extension and improvement of Tidal's existing Automation service. The function of this service is to automate the evidence collection process when customers execute controls and assess risks relevant to their internal processes, so that an auditor can have that evidence ready and run the audit in a timely and cost-effective manner, instead of checking and filling documentation manually.

My work includes implementing two new automated functions that collect user data from Azure, and using them as a proof of concept to showcase the other improvements I made to the Automation service. End-to-end user feedback was introduced which shows the status of each evidence request and displays relavant error information when the evidence collection process fails for any reason. Furthermore, my research helped me build a first version of a general authentication component whose goal is to completely separate the authentication process from automated functions, thus simplifying the development process of future automations.

Software Generic API's

The Naked Objects pattern is a lesser-known development pattern invented to simplify and accelerate software development. It aims to generate user interfaces automatically by establishing a direction connection with the application’s domain models. Frameworks like Apache ISIS and Naked Objects Framework utilise the pattern to increase development speed, at the cost of reduced customisability.

Open Circle Solutions developed Dynamo as an internal web application framework, which makes use of these same principles. It uses Spring Boot as an application framework, and Vaadin 14 as a user interface framework.

In some of Open Circle Solution’s applications, Dynamo’s lack of customisability, heavy memory requirements and slow loading times have become very apparent. To enhance the user experience, they wish to create a new iteration of the Dynamo framework.

The goal of this project is to assess the feasibility of using a Generic API to expose domain objects and their metadata. This approach enables automatic generation on the client-side as opposed to the server side, resulting in significant performance gains. Furthermore, it provides the flexibility to choose between automatic generation or customised development depending on the specific requirements of a webpage.

Frameworks were assessed on a wide range of criteria and compared using evaluation matrices and prototypes. This resulted in a final recommendation, which was applied to a real-world use case. The framework was extended with essential functionality to form a new iteration of Dynamo.

For that reason, they send out an annual Internal ICT Satisfaction Survey to over 2,000 internal customers all across their company worldwide.

The internal survey aims to serve as a valuable tool for ICT Organisation of the company to gain better understanding of aspects or services they provide that may require attention or improvement based on the internal customers responses.

The project involved defining relevant questions for the managers and service owners, selecting an appropriate platform, as well as finding a way to process the results and reporting functionalities.

Ik heb hierbij een condoleance boek app gemaakt dat alleen beschikbaar is via iPad waarbij je met een Apple pen je gegevens invult die je ook in een normale condoleance boek zou invullen. Hierbij is er rekening gehouden met een wat oudere doelgroep die vaker bij een uitvaart geweest zijn om het gevoel van dat je in een boek schrijft te behouden. Deze app zal onderdeel zijn van een groter platform waar het bedrijf momenteel nog aan werkt.

Organisational Processes Legacy Code Transpiler

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij BDO Nederland heb ik onderzoek gedaan naar hoe een large language model van Azure OpenAI Services ingezet kan worden om ontwikkelaars te ondersteunen bij het vertalen van legacy code. Legacy code is verouderde applicaties waarvan tegenwoordig weinig kennis van beschikbaar is en mogelijke storingen en beveiligingslekken kan veroorzaken. Tijdens het onderzoek is gekeken naar de mogelijkheden om legacy code te vertalen naar C# code die voldoet aan de hedendaagse standaarden en richtlijnen van BDO Nederland. Verder is er tijdens de stage ook gekeken naar de kwaliteit van de vertaalde code en de acties die nog vernomen moeten worden om het gereed te maken voor productie.

During my time here at McCoy Manila, I have been conducting research on the topic of managing multiple decentralized environments.

McCoy is responsible for monitoring the health of SAP environments of their customers, this is done by using SAP Solution Manager. This tool has all customer data centralized in one place, but this tool is at the end of it's development cycle. Industry's new practices is going to be the use of SAP Cloud ALM, but unlike Solution Manager, SAP Cloud ALM decentralizes data. Each customer with SAP Cloud ALM will have their own environment. McCoy faces a big challenge with the monitoring process if all data is scattered. The goal of this thesis is to research how these multiple environments still can be managed in the future, thus keeping the process efficient.

If this problem is not dealt with, the monitoring team will experience an increase of monitoring checks - which will cost more time.

STA Software is een bedrijf dat gespecialiseerd is in softwareoplossingen voor professionals in de bouwsector. Deze sector staat bekend om zijn zware administratieve lasten, veroorzaakt door wetgeving en de diverse betrokken partijen bij bouwprojecten. Vanaf 2024 zal de nieuwe Wet Kwaliteitsborging (WKb) deze lasten nog verder vergroten.

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij STA software ben ik bezig geweest om een notificatie systeem te ontwikkelen waardoor gebruikers binnen het systeem op de hoogte gehouden kunnen worden van alles wat er gebeurd zonder af te hangen van externe communicatie kanalen of zelf te moeten zoeken voor veranderingen.

Aangezien het niet goed meetbaar is of mensen tijd besparen m.b.v. het notificatiesysteem is de focus gelegd op de gebruikers perceptie van tijd besparing. Hierdoor was het heel belangrijk om te kijken wat de gebruiker terug wil zien en hoe dit allemaal gepresenteerd wordt voor hem zodat een gebruiker niet overladen word met te veel of irrelevante informatie aangezien hij dan nog steeds net zo zoekende is als zonder een notificatiesysteem.

Software Scheduler rebuild

Tijdens mijn afstudeerstage bij Please, een bedrijf dat personeelszaken voor ondernemers beheert, heb ik een onderzoeksproject uitgevoerd waarin de interne Scheduler applicatie is geanalyseerd en herontworpen. Deze applicatie, essentieel voor het beheer van diverse personeelsprocessen zoals datasynchronisatie, controle van arbeidsvoorwaarden en communicatie, is toe aan modernisering omdat deze niet langer voldoet aan de wensen van de gebruikers. De huidige applicatie is beperkt tot sequentiële taakverwerking en bied minimale controle over de processen.

Het doel van dit project is het identificeren van knelpunten in de huidige Scheduler en het vaststellen van de benodigde architectuur voor de integratie van nieuwe functionaliteiten. In het onderzoek wordt de huidige situatie in kaart gebracht, knelpunten en gebruikerswensen gedefinieerd, en de gewenste oplossing ontworpen. Een belangrijk onderdeel van het ontwerp is het ontwikkelen van een technisch prototype dat parallelle procesuitvoering mogelijk maakt, en een proof of concept dat geïntegreerd is met de applicaties van Please en de bestaande taken kan uitvoeren.

Het proof of concept bestaat uit een .NET Core applicatie en webpagina’s die communiceren met deze .NET Core applicatie. Dit zal de efficiëntie en testbaarheid van de taken en hun uitvoering aanzienlijk verbeteren.

For my graduation internship at Defenced, I was tasked with finding and documenting ways for Defenced to more proactively confront domain squatters. For this, I researched domain squatting and set up a proof of concept. This involved researching a cutting-edge topic in the cybersecurity space, a topic with potential global implications. I then wrote a report detailing further steps Defenced can take in this regard and realized one as a proof of concept. The proof of concept in question will become the foundation of Defenced's more proactive measures to counter domain squatting, eventually being just one of the many tools Defenced can employ to counter the threat domain squatters pose.

- Smart charging (Changing the charging rate depending on the amount of power the grid can deliver)
